CTR Engine Start

Who has had any issues after installing the CTR push button start in their car??

Is this a relatively safe modification? Reason why im asking is because im debating to buy an extended warranty for my car and also want the push button start from the CTR (from aj racing) and want to know how reliablethey are and peoples experiences with them.

i havent seen neone on here that has had problems with them ... just make sure that everything is wired correctly n u should be set to go ... there is a special way to wire it so that you cannot crank the engine with the key (i would not recommend this) and just use the push button start, but if the button fails your s*** outta luck .. so i would recommend that you wire it so that you can still use your key to crank the engine over in case the button fails

heres two diy's on the wiring and some discussion

CTR Push start button DIY install w/pics and wiring diagram

DIY: push start button ( wiring diagram)

It depends...on some it just needs a radio signal from the key transponder, others you put the key in, turn it, then push the start button.

yes. AND turn it to the on position. its pointless for us to have push start. Lexus IS has an electronic key that only needs to be in your pocket and you truly DO only push to start. no key.

On a lot of the 2010 vehicles, you place your key in this slot/holder, then push start

yeah as stated above me ... you do have to put the key in and turn it to the "on" position before the button will work

Isn't it better for the ignition or something? Cause you can't overturn the engine.

well, seeming as its only 45 dollars, it would give a much more OEM feel than the trim and fog light button i have now from ebay. It looks good but the engine start button gives it a much nicer look.

Yes you do have to put the key to ON and yes it might be a bit pointless, and YES it can save your engine from being over turned because once u push the button it starts the car...if you hold the button....it wont do anything.

I want to get it more for the nice factor. I called Acura dealerships and they said it wont hurt the warranty...but if anything goes wrong and its linked to the starter button...then whatever part is not working wont be covered.

At this point i dont really care too much about it being functional...its more for the looks. I know it might seem stupid to have a non functional button, but i can always wire it up anytime, Just not right now.

Im deciding whether or not i am getting another 3 years/160 000 km extended warranty for the car, and if i don't ill wire the button up to the starter...but for now ill just screw it in and have it for the looks!

I guess!

by the way the IDIOTS at these honda dealerships told me if i have 18'' HFP wheels on my car, my suspension warranty is over...lol

I'm like sooooo WHY THE HELL DO YOU SELL THEM AS AN ACCESSORY....shes like ALL civics need 15'' and 16'' only.

Im like so...why does the Si have 17'' stockers, shes like OHHH you have an Si?? im like jeeeeezus!

p.s. the 18'' HFP wheel option is still available for the DX/LX/EX models lol

she shut up. no one knows anything at service departments in dealerships. They come to work not knowing their own vehicles. damn useless...

ANYWAYS back to the push button start!

FOR 45$ NEY OR YEY!!

^ op if you really want it then go for it man ... its your car and u should do what you want with it lol ... as for ur extended warranty, i dont know why your holding off on installing the push button start ... as long as you follow the correct wiring diagrams and make sure your work is legit, you shouldnt have nething go wrong n you'll have the best of both worlds ... a ctr push button start and ur warranty!

You still have to hold the button until the car starts, so I don't know what you guys are referring to regarding: "you can't overturn the engine."

right but once the car starts you can continue to hold the button down without "over" turn the engine ... with the key, if the car is already started and you go to start the car without realizing that it is already running, your hurting the starter and the car ... you cant do that with the button

lol ya, ah so im going to order it tommorow. if i decide to hook it up, then good but if not itll be a show piece. lol, at least i have the option to always hook it up whenever.

and its cool cause the guy at aj-racing said if i press the button once the car already running, the engine will shut down. press it again it will start. so its an engine start and stop button...

dunno if its true, can anyone confirm?
