p1863 Throttle Valve Default Position Spring Performance Problem

Hello Everyone!

I have a Honda 06 Civic coupe Ex with a manual transmission.
I put 150,000 miles and I did that all by my self. and planning to get to 300,000 before i pay off the car.

I love this car. but the yellow check engine sign has been coming on sometimes.

I took it to Pep Boys for a free code reading
and it came up with this

"p1683 Throttle Valve Default Position Spring Performance Problem"

Any ideas on what it can be will be greatly appreciated, I love This Honda and i don't think i will drive anything else.

Honda wants $98 just too look at it.
I'm hoping to buy the part on ebay and just replace it my self.

Thanks everyone for reading!

lol ive been looking around for the solution to this code but i cant seem to find nething useful ... if i were to take a guess i'd have to agree with quickfit in that it has to be something related to the throttle body ... it seems to me, and someone correct me if im wrong cuz i've never taken a throttle body apart before, that there is a spring inside of the throttle body that controls the opening/closing of the valve since p1684 is "throttle valve return spring performance problem" ... If at all possible, i'd take the throttle body off and see if you can take it apart to possibly diagnose something wrong with the spring (if there even is a spring) yourself before you bring it to honda ... if it the spring hopefully it should be an easy fix for ya!

OK. bought a new throttle body... code will not go away..

put back the old throttle body... the code is gone and it never came back.

the only thing i changed was the rubber that goes on the throttle body...

I bought the throttle body "Canada/US Version" from a Honda dealer. for $120 USD.

they also sold me a bushing or some kind of rubber fitting. it was only about $15. after installing the new throttle and resetting it many times. the code kept coming back.. so i decided to install the old throttle body, then the code disappeared. so the only thing I changed was the rubber piece... PS. i now have 177,000 miles and the code still hasn't come back.

Also after installing the new throttle body, car in idle, would rev up with out me pressing the gas.. have a feeling that the new throttle body was defected. but why did the sign go away after i installed the old throttle body ? i have no idea....

I have now 190,000

OK, just hit the 190,000 miles.
and a few days ago the ugly check engine light came on again.

so checked it again and came up with these codes:

P0507 Idle Air control System higher than expected
P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold

does anyone have any suggestions of what it could be?

Thanks

P0420 is thrown from your secondary O2 sensor ... either the sensor is shot or your catalytic converter is shot, one of the two will cause that code

P0507 could be caused by a vacuum leak on any of these parts:
-pcv valve
-pcv hose
-evap canister purge valve
-throttle body
-intake manifold
-brake booster hose
-brake booster
if any of these are leaking, replace the part, reset the ecu, and perform the idle learn procedure (says the service manual)
