I'm a bit worried about something. If it is just the axle and tie rod would a shock strong enough to break an axle be strong enough to weaken anything directly attached to the axle. I worry that a few months later I may develope a drivetrain problem. Maybe damaged bearing in the hub and tranny. What do you all think? I was thinking of telling the repair shop to replace the wheel hub and the bearing in the tranny just in case. Do you think the insurance will go for it if it is not damaged?
I asked Allstate what happens if I develope a drivetrain problem later on. They told me that if it is directly related to the accident, they will pay for replacement parts as needed. Should I be worried or should I just trade the car in after I get it back? I was thinking of trading it in for a 07 TW Si with HFP body kit, fogs, 18's, and navi. I have officially taken the G35 off my list. I test drove it and absolutely hated the gearbox. The notchiest, sloppiest, most uncomfortable 6spd I have ever driven. Just for sh!ts and giggles I am going to test drive a GTI this weekend. I am also going to test drive a Legacy Spec. B. |

Wow that sucks man, sorry to hear the news. NY road repair is like trying to navigate through a mine field. Im surprised that there were no cones blocking that off or a wooden horse to warn drivers. Then again Im not surprised because this is NY.
I know how you feel about driving your car after the damage. If it were me I would try to get rid of it, just for peace of mind. Every time I would hear a strange noise I would be paranoid that it would be from the accident. Also if you are looking to go that route, it may show on a carfax since you reported it the insurance. Hope everything works out for you, lots of luck. Just remember the main thing is that your ok ![]() |
