I just bought this AEM intake brand new online. I was gonna go with injen but chose to go with AEM because they were the only one I could find with the two piece setup so I could possibly put the bypass valve in between so it won't suck in water. So is this a known problem with AEM or was it a known problem before? The model I have is the 21-519.

It's new for us Honda's because of the MAF setup. But it's the first outcome of the AEM intakes that throw the CEL's. If you're brand new, just go get your code checked... it's free. See what the code actually is. For all we know it can be something else.

I thought the car was already burning the fuel rich cause I see that black residue on my exhaust tip since I got the car after I put a few miles on it. Can I do anything about this code? |

So I'll see. Thanks for the info. As for the cams... I heard that the cams already on the si are the best cams calibrated for that engine. So you could get cams but the ones on the engine are already the best you can get for the k20z3. |

Wrong... we cams we have are pretty high up in the performance ranking, but are far from the best. A mild upgrade is the 06+ TSX cams which give a little more lift than ours. Then after that you'd move to the aftermarket side. Buddy club, Crower, Skunk2, etc. Unless you own a ferrari, or a 100,000+ car. There are better cams out there for your motor lol.

Huge problem.
So I bought an Injen CAI from a member here. She said that the MAS port on the CAI didnt match her FG5 MAS. So I bought it from her, not knowing that the MAS is the same for both cars. So I disassemble my entire car. Get the CAI routed up. Go to connect the MAS to the CAI... The CAI has a rectangular mount. The Civic Si hs a round MAS. Very upset right now. Anyone have any suggestions? I just went to injen's website and looked for a local dealer around 75243 (Dallas, Tx) and it didnt show any. What are my options... |

Question:
I finished installing the Injen CAI today. And while putting no my bumper, I noticed the drivers side was having a hell of a time getting back together. As if something was obstructing it. And low and behold, the CAI was bumping up against my OEM Fogs. I haven't done any adjustments yet, but has anyone else had this issue. And if so, how did you solve it? I wasnt able to install my new retro headlights yet, so this weekend/next week when I get the replacement parts I need and I install it, I'm gonna tweak with the CAI.. Any input would be greatly appreciated :) |

Installed mine today along with P2R tbs. I wouldn't say it was too difficult of an install but I had to take frequent breaks due to the fact that it was 110 degrees outside. Arizona sucks! Took it out for a drive afterwards and it felt like I was rubbing up against some hosing when shifting into first. Shouldn't be too difficult to re-arrange things but will have to wait until tomorrow when its light out again. Overall it sounds awesome, especially at
, but I could swear I hear the injectors firing more so than before. Could be that i'm just listening more closely than before but anyone else notice this?

Thanks for the DIY. I used this to do mine, cleared my side front turn signals at the same time. Bumper off to Bumper on it took me about 4 hours for both things, but it was the first time doing a CAI and used a heat gun on my lights (BTW I recommend the oven trick). I noticed a bigger kick at VTEC but the noise is WAY louder from 3k to 5800 than it was before. I don't even have to hit VTEC and it really growls. Love the sound, gas mileage has gone to crap, but oh well it's worth it. Again thanks for the great DIY helped a lot.

As for your first gear problem, make sure the piping/coupler isn't too close to gear selector on the tranny. Have a friend sit inside the car and go from 1st to 2nd to 3rd. While you watch the gear selector move around. See if it's hitting, if it is, just loosen the couplers and push back on the piping toward the fans. While pushing them toward the fans, tighten everything up. That should solve the problem. |
