Taking the car to the dealer again

Hopefully i get all this shit fixed. Should i also print out the TSB document for

Just a quick update: 10/31/06
I dropped my car off at the dealer, and surprisingly one of the SA's came out to test drive with me. My car displayed some of the symptoms that i was describing, but they weren't as pronounced. I heard the clunking and the rumbling #1 and #3 but the SA says didn't hear shit, and made me look like an idiot. It's just weird how the roads around the dealership are perfect.

Anyways, again, they made me feel all stupid, this is the last time i will take my car to this dealer for anything. Out of the 7 problems i had listed here's what they had to say about each one so far

#1 Rumbling sound around 1400RPM Fix TSB# 06-059

During test drive:
SA: I don't hear anything
Me: but i do, and I hear it all the time, try somewhere with an incline and keep it around 1500rpm
SA: *goes to find a street with a slight incline*
*Sound resurfaces, along with clunking from the front right.*
Me: Did you hear it?
SA: Hear what?
Me: The engine rumbling and the clunking
SA: No, i don't hear anything

After test drive:
SA: I didn't hear it on the test drive, so i don't know what to tell the tech, but i'll let him know and have him check on it.
Me: Thats fine, i have a TSB# for it, my car is in the affected range of VINs and i know it displays those symtoms *Shows him the TSB#*
SA: Just because it's in the VIN range doesn't mean it is affected, i didn't hear anything on the test drive, so again, we'll have the tech look at it.

He typed it in as "CUSTOMER STATES THERE IS A RUMBLING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE, BETWEEN 1300-1700RPMS: UNABLE TO VERIFY DURING TEST DRIVE"

#2 Throttle oversensitive in 1st gear, slight lag/delay when starting from a stop (try stop signs) Heard of HDS update (ecu reflash?) to smooth out throttle response, please check for updated version, thank you!

SA: *Before even Checking* This is just some crazy talk you heard on the internet huh?
Me: The throttle is too sensitive, it's especially noticeable around stop signs. I have to deal with this everyday.
SA: *drives around with a really REALLY light foot* I don't think its too sensitive. This civic has a new system that smooths throttle response, so it'll feel different from other cars you've driven before.
Me:

I was about to say, why would honda put in a new throttle system if it makes it LESS responsive and less comfortable then before? but i didn't.

The SA did not type this problem in

#3 Clunking noise in front right still here, try going over uneven roads (hellman near mark keppel high school?)

The sa chose such nicely paved streets, the sound only surfaced once or twice.

SA: I didn't hear anything, and if i don't hear anything, i can't tell the tech anything. So until we hear it, its not a problem
Me: But i hear it all the time, try hellman near mark keppel (its an unevenly paved street that seems to be engineered to make rattles more pronounced in your car)
SA: We drove around here and we didn't hear anything, i don't think it would be different on other streets
Me:

The SA did not type this problem in

#4 Driver side window rattles when window is partially down

The SA had the window rolled up the ENTIRE DRIVE, only to roll it down partially when we were parked in the Honda garage
SA: I didn't hear anything

The SA did not type this problem in

#5 The piece of foam used to quiet down the wind noise last time tore off as i used my window, wind noise is back! (noise coming from the area around the front left power mirror)

The SA didn't even address this issue

The SA did not type this problem in

#6 Exterior temperature indicator sometimes doesn't change. Sometimes, still tells me a low temperature (like 55-60) when it is 80+

SA: I've gotten numerous complaints about this in may of our cars. For some reason, Hondas temp gauge doesn't move until your car have been moving for awhile. So if you parked somewhere, and it was 58 degrees, it'll probably still be 58 degrees when you start your car again, and it'll move up 1 degree at a time.

I didn't know of this, whether or not it is true. So i didn't have much to say.
What i noticed myself though, was that sometimes it adjusts instantly from 60-78 degrees, so reguardless, I hope the tech looks at it.

#7 Glove box rattle/sqeak

The SA didn't even address this issue

Another update. So i got my car, any they didn't fix any of the 7 problems that i listed. Needless to say, i'm pissed the **** off that they wasted my whole day and only test drove the car once. They also had the ac on. How i Know?

The SA didn't take the lo-jack key with him, i even asked if they needed it and they said no. So every time they start the car, i get a phone call and a notice. They only tried once, because i got three notices. Once in the beginning to move the car to the side, once to go try it out, and again to move it out for me. I know the ac was on because i had 1 bar missing (of gas) and the a/c was set off. When i started the car it had 3 bars missing for a lil over 10 miles driven, and when i turned the fan knob on, the a/c turned on.

I definitely DO NOT recommend this dealer (Goudy Honda in Alhambra) to anyone, and i hope there are better dealers around.

Ok guys, another update: 11/03/06
Unsatisfied with my experience with Goudy, i took my car to another dealer. Spirit Honda in El Monte. This place is great so far, they're ordering parts for the vibrating sound and the clunking sound. They're going to call me when the parts arrive, and fix the window rattling. So far they're really good, excellent service, free coffee n food (unlike goudy) n the service advisor was really nice. He typed in exactly what i told him. I'll have another update once i get the stuff fixed.

I thought the temp sensor was the temp of the oil in your engine...?

EDIT: Also, could you make a link to the tsb for #1...I can't seem to find it online...

also about the temperature sensor, it's not the O2 sensor that controls stuff in your engine. It's just the regular thermometer, it's STILL reading 56 degrees right now but it's nearly 80 outside, and i just got back from driving it around.

thanks for the tsb...I was referring to the temp sensor (not O2 sensor), as I believe it measures oil temp...not external temp

Ah...no. The day you see your oil temp that low in normal driving, park the car. The temperature sensor is behind the front bumper and it indicates the outside ambient temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius degrees on the Multi-Function display in the dash. From the sounds of it, jasongg's sensor is damaged.

Some of ya'll need to RTFM. Wonderful piece of literature that a lot of owners ignore, unfortunately.

Thanks for that glorious piece of advice But s'all good...setup and appointment for the fixment of my 1400 rpm issue. Honda should send out TSB stuff like that to all the people that purchased affected cars. Then again, I just HAD to have the newest model of the newest car out there (my bad I suppose).

Can someone explain the noise for the TSB? Is it in manual or automatics? Is it like a rumble and vibration or just a buzzing noise? How loud is the buzzing noise?

Would also like to know this, I think my vin is within the range but I've never really noticed any rumble and don't feel like taking it in for service to fix a noise I don't ever hear.

drive your car at a constant 40 mph up a small slope...if your car has the problem, then your engine will sound like it's grinding something...loudly for me

btw, I'm going to the dealer on monday to get it fixed. I will report back on solution status!

Sounds like an unfruitful visit to the dealership..I'm sorry.

I called and scheduled my appointment with what seemed like a secretary. I let her know about the problem I was having with the 1400rpm noise, and said that I should talk to the parts department. I was transfered, and I left to person that answered the phone there know that I was taking my car in to fix a perticular problem and I wanted to make sure they had the perticular part to fix the problem so I wasn't wasting my time. He said "What part number do you have?" and then I gave him the H/C part number located on the TSB, and let him know which TSB it was involved with. Then I also let him know that this is a warranty service, and I shouldn't be charged for this part, right? He said, no charge, but we do have to special order the new belt. So I rescheduled the appointment for a different date that was when the ordered part arrived.

The day I took the car in, I informed the Service Advisor (SA...and a real dick) that my car makes a noise exactly as described in a TSB. And that I also talked to the parts department and they ordered the special part so that today I can get my car fixed. He looked at me like I had just run over his child at this point. He then said "So you ordered the part without us confirming the problem?" He was upset, I could tell. But we got a tech to drive the car and I rode along. The streets around here are pretty flat, so making the little noise was hard, but it is also accompanied by a slight shaking of the gas pedal too. So even though the guy was deft, he did feel the vibration.

Last thing, I scheduled a 9 am appointment so I could get my car fixed by lunch or so at work. They got the car into the shop at 3pm and then go it all taken care of by 4:30pm. Needless to say, I'm happy they fixed the problem, but that is waaaaay too much shit to put up with just to get a little rattle fixed.

Moral of the story: Go over the SA's head if you want to get anything done at all!

I was messing around lastnight, never heard a rumbling noise. I did hear a quiet whining noise, and I had to put a lot of effort into it just to hear that so I don't think I'll be running to the dealer any time soon. It sounded exactly like what I imagined a belt being pulled through a pulley system under tension would sound like, so I guess that was it.

Driving normally I never heard anything (note, my radio and A/C were both off), even on rough roads or over hills at 40mph. I never heard anything cruising at 1500 rpm, I only ever heard it accelerating very, very slowly past 1500 rpm. Accelerating normally I never heard anything, but accelerating normally usually means the rpm needle flys past 1500 (at least for me it does). Like, it only happened accelerating but the car was only ever around 1500 rpm long enough for me to hear it when I accelerated much slower than I would consider normal driving.
