A = change oil but leave filter?

I just realized something, when the maintenance minder thing tells you to give your car the "A" maintenance your meant to change the oil itself, but your supposed to leave the filter until it comes up to "B", which I'd assume is at ~7,500 or 10,000 miles.

Is this a good idea? I don't know a lot about cars, but the idea of taking out the old oil but leaving in the old filter doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

My car just told me it needs "A-1", which I gather means new oil and the tires need rotating - but should I ask them to change the filter as well?

Okay, now - the only service appointment I could get is at a dealership 20 miles away, I waited too long I guess. Anyway, will driving 20 miles down the freeway be okay when the oil needs changed and the repair thing is on?

I'm thinking yes, but I'm paranoid and don't want to **** anything up.

Like, should I go to this or wait till tommorow and go to the one that's litterally 1.2 miles from me...

As soon as the maintenance minder comes on, it means that you must put your car in neutral and call a tow truck immediately to tow it to the nearest Honda dealer for service.

j/k

The maintenance minder is a reminder that it's time to do preventative maintenance within, say, the next 500 miles. Don't worry, drive it. Just don't wait 6 months.

maintenence main item "A" is oil change only you are correct in assuming that this does not incude the filter, and from my experience the dealer will not change the filter anyway. I personaly am not comfterble with this and therefore have taken it uppon myself to change my own oil and filter at both maintenence main items "A" and "B" some people may tell you that it is not nessecary, while this may be the case, I will continue to change both at the same time in the traditional manner.
