I had no idea, all my other cars had a hook that you drape the tether across. Because I didn't see that hook I've always taken time to clean the cap and rest it oh so gently against the side. Those days are behind me now, I'm already looking forward to my next fill!

PS: To those who didn't notice this before, don't feel bad, it's not as obvious, or as secure, on the Civic as it seems to be on other Honda's. It seems like they changed it compared the other models I've got experience with?

Here in the South Bay Area, a lot of Valero stations still have full-service. Usually one pump at a station is dedicated just for that and when you pull up to that pump, an attendant will come out and ask if you actually want full service and if yes will pump your gas, wash your windows, check the fluids, and do whatever else included.

What we do is insert the cap inside the handle and wait in the car till it fills up. So there you go, another tip where to put your impossible caps, although not as designed by the manufaturer, but still useful. If anyone doesn't get my explanation, I will gladly explain it in detail, draw a diagram perhaps.

I know what you are referring to. Here in California the tip in the handle is present, but I never use it when I fill up. I just hold the pump handle while casually leaning against the car... hehe...
