raw gas smell after spinning tires

2006 SI 15,000 miles. I had to pull out into traffic this morning while it was wet out. I quickly spun through first gear so I shifted into second, at which point I repeatedly (about 3 times) went from about 5k-7.5k on the tach quickly while trying to grab traction. Once I finally got the car up to 50mph or so instead of just the wheels, I drove along as normal somewhere between 2-4k. After doing this I smelled raw gas for a few minutes, which may or may not have been coming from my car. I'm not really concerned, just curious as to what this could be and if it is potentially damaging. I know it is not great for the engine to rev so fast under such a small load. Also, not sure if crossing the VTEC point 3 or so times in such a short period could confuse the engine and/or cause the the engine to run rich. At the time I was more concerned with not getting rear-ended so I over did the gas pedal for the road conditions. Thanks.

Not real sure what would've caused the raw gas smell, but I do know that my Si and several others I have spoken with run a bit rich. Every weekend when I go to wash her, I have to scrub the blackness off her exhaust.

I was wondering... had you just eaten Kim Chi shortly before this happened? Maybe you were startled going in and out of v-tec a few times. I don't know.

Ah yes I have this too. I thought maybe some unburnt gas could find it's way out if running rich. Pure speculation.
