a stupid question - when do i change my brake pads?

I always miss the right time to change my brake pads.

I had to replace the discs and rotors all the time when i used to drive my VW.

I knwo it sounds stupid but when do i change my brake pads with civics?

the advisor told me that i didn't have to do it until 50,000km.

but someone told me that i have to do it once a year at least.

so any idea?

it all depends on ur driving habit.

mine's pretty bad but so far so good @ 18,500miles more than 75%

when you do your tire rotation or have someone else do it, just simply look at the brake pad wear. easy to tell.

you change it when you hit the wear indicator, it makes a squeeky sound.

keep a little clicker in the car. You know the ones that you hold in your one hand and press the button to count. like the ones the people use at concerts to count the people comming in.

Keep it in your car and click it every time you hit the brakes. when it reads 234891 then change the pads. but keep in mind if you wait till 234892 then you will have to change the air filter also.

Sorry I just felt like being a wise @ss. I have them looked at everytime I rotate the tires. Every 5000 miles. when they get under 50% I change them.
