HELP Broken valve cover bolt

Well i screwed up tonite. I was installing a circle earth ground and ended up over torquing one of the valve cover bolts which in turn caused it to break off as you can see from the pics. I plan on taking my car to honda tomorrow morning to get it fixed. Would anyone have any idea how much it might cost me for parts and labor? Obviously I am gonna be waiting a few days for the bolt and nut to come in... Is it an easy fix? Right now I am using one of the bolts from the intake manifold cover to hopefully keep oil from leaking for now.

Especially working on an aluminum block. If you don't torque down the bolts to the specs, you'll strip one out easily.

Always such bashing on this thread. Not everyone does everything right the first time like you two guys do. I bet there not one person on this forum who can honestly say they have never f*cked up something while working on their car. So instead of negative comments why not post up the specs to tighten the bolt that way others can learn from the post. That is the point to this particular topic section. Just my .02 cents!

you're right. but i was just alittle upset and took it off teh wrong way. but there are things that, even if you know what you're dong, shoudl nto be touched if you do not have the apropriate tools, in this case, a torque wrench.

Hey, **it happens. As long as you learn from your mistakes, it's all good (except for paying to fix things when **it happens).

your manual usually has torque specs for the bolts you would typically encounter while working on your car. If i remember correctly, for reference, the lug nuts are 80ft-lbs and spark plugs are in the neighborhood of 12ft-lbs
