Exclamation 2007 Civic Brake Problems?

So, I've had my 2007 for 3 weeks now and LOVE IT. BUUUUT, do any of you have any brake issues?
When I make fast sudden stops the brake pedal kinda "rattles". For example, you know when you go over those rumble strips (thump, thump thump) and how the feeling that gives? Well, that's the feeling my brake has. Anyone know what that means and if it's a big issue?

Depends. It could be the ABS kicking in. You said sudden fast stops? Do you put the pedal to the floor? Is it a "pulsing" kind of feel?

ABS, like the Godfather said. These Civics apparently have a really twitchy ABS system where they'd turn on where other cars would still be in the regular braking zone.

I learned to modulate braking more because of this. :)

Yes, "pulsing" excellent word to describe it. So, it's the ABS?

I'm sure its the ABS. Mine activates even when the car is going over small road imperfections under medium breaking load

Good chance it is the ABS. I'm not judging your braking habits, but some people I know brake at the last minute. Car's ABS system doesn't know if you're driving normally or not, so it sends in the ABS 2nd I.D. squad just as a precaution

Yeh, the ABS is very sensitive on our system. Everytime I go home, I go over this part of the road that has a slight crack or pothole in it, and ABS kicks in everytime I go over it.

If you pay attention to your environment settings and your pulsating brake pedal (ABS), you should notice a correlation that it's kicking in at generally the same places. Try it. If it's interelated... ABS.

gusta is right, it is the abs.

The abs system in these cars really suck, they will get you into an accident instead of helping you out of one. they go off over anything thats not perfectly smooth!

my abs is way too twitchy too... do you think it's because of the electronics or the physical abs systems themselves?

Yes, the ABS system is quite sensitive. If you're in the midst of braking and you happen to hit a bump in the road, you'll feel the ABS kick in. It's really nothing to worry about too much.

it's the electronics. my mothers accord (04) has 4 wheel abs and it doenst' go off as much as the civic. the civic is so bad that anythign will set it off, it's so annoying. i dont think abs works over these things. i know if the ground is full of gravel and u break noticebly, it will set the abs off, and have u lose control, this case is NOT GOOD, wehreas it shoudln't even think of setting the abs off.

ONLY UNDER HARD BREAKING. stupid honda abs engineers.

The 06 Civic also has EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution) Which makes the ABS overcompensate even more.

If it feels the tires are not spinning at the same rate, it changes the force to the other tires. (this is what I understand it to be).

All I know is the 06 is 5 times more sensitive than my 02 with ABS.

Have the brakes inspected.

Is it an EX where you have 4 wheel disc brakes?

You can see if they are warn by the little notch that is cut out of the side of teh pad. When the cut out is gone, the pads need replacing.

My inside pads wore down faster than the outside, so you need to have those checked also.

Are the rotors warped? If you apply light braking power, do they seem to catch?
