Will Honda/Acura Replace My Odometer?

Well as everyone knows the 2006 model year civic had a 5% increase for "faulty" odometers....

My question is....since its been fixed in 2007, would it be possible for Honda to fix the way it clocks the mileage with updated hardware??

I dont know if its ECU or a odometer sensor or whatever, but would it be possible to replace it somehow and update my ECU. Not sure how it works!!

Any insight?

How does that answer the OP's question? The lawsuit doesn't negate the fact the odometer reading is wrong or solves the problem mechanically.

The settlement was to extend the warranty.

I would assume there is no intended fix from Honda for older models. Of course the newer models have been corrected.

If you read my 1st link, then go to the link in the 2nd post... or just google it, you will see that the final settlement states that the odometer is off by 2.5%.

This means that after driving 100,000 miles, your odometer will show 102,500 miles instead.

Is this worth fixing?

To GeezerSi....im aware...very aware of the lawsuit and the settlement lol. But ok after 200,000 km it wont affect resale value since it will be off my 4,000 km....but still its principle.

People like lower km's when selling a car, If there were 2 cars being sold, maintained very well, and no issues, same asking price and one with 4,000 km's less....which one would the consumer want to buy..

Psychologically the one with the lower km's!

Im going to ask if theres maybe just an easy fix for it....if the 2007's read fine, then why cant my 2006 read fine as well...all it is are sensors and electronics...all replaceable. its not like a vin number where its permanent.

I see where you are coming from OP, but I don't expect you're going to get anything solved trying to fight this.

I've talked to lawyers about many things related to the faults of this car, and ANY 'remedy' that they do, if 'performed' or 'bestowed' upon you, means the company "tried" to fix it, and you have little to no case.

I agree it ***** up the resale and it absolutely does suck, because it does add up over time, trust me, but it's probably nothing you'll ever get to be fixed.

It's right, and it's not fair, but to be frank, this is what I've come to expect from "fixes" from Honda. In the end, we get screwed.

Keep us posted though. As far as I know, you're only going to probably get the 37.5K warranty extension.

Our clocks run really fast too lol.

lol my clock is okay but it's so weird I just google mapped my house to my gf's house and it gave me 32.7 km...and my car (2006 acura csx) registered it dead on...my 2005 civic same thing but my 2008 civic clocked it at 32.3km...are the 2008's underestimating?

P.s. I drove the exact same route exact!!!!!

so they obviously wont replace the sensor....or wtv it is. They said my warranty is extended but it wont apply to me since time will run out before i reach 160,000 km
