100 watt instead of 55 watts? (foglights)

I installed the OEM foglights last week and purchased 55watt yellow lights for them. Turns out, one blew out the first hour so the seller I bought it from sent me 2 new ones. These are 100 watt H11 bulbs and I want to know if it is ok that it is more wattage before I install them. Thanks

There is a chance it will be ok, but there can be problems when going to higher wattage bulbs.

The bulbs will draw almost twice the amperage of the 55W bulbs. They will run hotter, which can be a problem in small foglight housings. You have to make sure the housings are rated for 100W bulbs otherwise you can overheat and damage the foglights.

This higher amperage may also require a higher fuse. It's not hard to install a higher amperage fuse, but if the circuit isn't designed to handle it then you can have problems with wiring and connector damage. The bulbs will probably draw between 8-10 amps each. If the circuit isn't designed for 16-20 amps constant, then you could have a problem.

with the higher wattage over time (couple months) they will melt your harness. I wouldn't use them

I got them from this seller. 2009 Honda Civic Coupe EX-L New Foglight Kit, OEM:eBay Motors (item 120433626353 end time Jul-11-09 16:53:34 PDT)

It came pretty quick and was the cheapest I can find them
239 with shipping.
If you do bing (live) cashback then you can get about 20 bucks back and if you are a member of ebay bucks then another 4-5 bucks can come your way. Thats what I did and I installed them myself to save probably another 200 bucks. Very easy to do!
