Nail in tire...need advice ASAP!!!

I found this nail in my tire which is causing a slow leak and it's right at the edge. Will this be alright to plug??? Or should I use fix-a-flat???

This what I would do:I would not remove the nail,go to the nearest garage and have it professionally repaired, problem solved.

as others have said, take it to a professional tire shop, they'll be able to tell you if it's safe to plug or if it's too close to the sidewall.

if it's into the sidewall, get the thing replaced.

Under ten bucks for a patch - the tire might be saved.
I know of tire shops that are picky about nails in the corners...

Well, I spoke to a friend that works at honda and one that works at merchants tire. The one from honda suggested I should do it, the one from merchants also suggested too but sounded unsure. So, I went ahead and plugged it.

pray for me lol

Don't use fix a flat. Once its used you need to replace the tire. Its only for temporary usage.

My friend at Merchants said they wouldnt have been able to patch it anyway because it's at the edge. A guy at treadquarters told me the same thing. I'll just have to drive around and hope my tire doesnt blow to shreds.

No. You can *NOT* plug a tire that close to the sidewall.

RMA specifically *DOES* *NOT* recommend repairing/plugging tires in the outermost rib. That's where your injury is.

DO NOT DRIVE ON THAT TIRE!

And what if your tire blows when you are on the highway or making a turn in the rain? You may be killed or seriously injured. Is it worth it? Get a new tire ASAP.

And, you can't use Fix-A-Flat in vehicles with TPMS sensors. It will ruin the TPMS sensor. You have an '07. I can't remember if the '07's come with TPMS. I know '06's don't and '08's do.

But, anyway, should not be driving on that tire (as others have mentioned).

anything less than an 1 inch from the sidewall is not repairable, the sidewall flexs too much and will cause the patch/plug/whatever to come off.

Plus, that is only a Direzza D1, not the priciest tire in the world to replace. Next time, buy the insurance, I always get nails and such so it is worth it for me.
