Transmission Fluid for Civic SI

Hey all,

I am going to change my transmission fluid in my 08 ASM FA5 this weekend, i have a simple question....what sort of tranny fluids does everyone recommend? I suppose I am looking for something synthetic, and just make the shifting a bit smoother....thanks a lot!

lol before someone yells at ya search around for these threads ... theres a ton of information on what everyone is using and what everyone likes ... Most of us run GM synchromesh friction modified and some run royal purple synchromax (myself) ... give a nice little search n u'll find info on both ... gl with the change

ive rebuilt alot of honda trannys over the years, and i would only use honda MTF, its a bit pricey at list price but its worth it. when you drain the oil on LEVEL ground fill the tranny from the top fill hole not the side fill hole. fill with exactly 2.5 quarts. the top fill hole is located by the header toward the back of the tranny.

in conjunction with K20Z3's comment ... your going to need a clean hose in order to fill the fluid into the fill port ... i went straight through the wheel well and into the fill port ... some have done different ... there is a nice DIY on MTF change that'll lay everything out for ya if ur having trouble ... easy change though

here is a pic of the fill hole on top of the tranny, its a lil hidden but this is the best way to fill the tranny with MTF.
