Help needed with 2009 Navi Amp install.

Hello everybody. I am a new Civic owner. Just got a 2009 Civic EX-L Sedan with Navi.

I've been researching a lot about this car already. Lots of good info on here as to how to run power cables and such and where to connect remote turn-on leads.

However I can't find much about using the stock navi system with an aftermarket amplifer.

I had a few questions somebody might be able to answer.

Since there is an available subwoofer option, the Navi system apparently has a Subwoofer out on the back of the head-unit which allows the sub level to be adjusted independently of the rest of the speakers.

If your car does not have the Honda subwoofer system, does anybody know if wires are already run to a location for the possible future installation of the Honda system? I want to tap into this output to provide a signal to my aftermarket amplifier.

In the sound options on the Navi system, there is a subwoofer level adjustment in the same menu as the Balance, Treble, Bass etc... however it doesn't show up on mine...I am assuming this is because I do not have the subwoofer. Anybody know if this option just shows up once the Honda amp is installed? Also, if an aftermarket amp is connected to the same output, would the subwoofer level control just show up magically by detecting a device at the other end of that output?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

It should. I have a navi as well without the subwoofer option. I spoke to a parts guy about it and he told me that the navi's are the same but they just have an amp for the sub. A buddy of mine has a lx and he has an rca output from the headunit to connect to his aftermarket sub. I don't see y it wouldn't work. The navi should automatically pick up the sub.

Thanks for the response.

When you say "it should" are you referring to the install of an aftermarket sub/amp?

I am referring to a line out. It might also have an amp. I haven't taken it apart to figure it out, but if you take apart your center console and see an amp then you will know.

I'll check it out and try to document what I find if everything goes well. Thanks for the input.

I'll look around for a DIY for the console....I know my Mustang really well, this is foreign to me....no pun intended.

LOL, yeah I know what you mean. It's not too difficult and there is alot of info here to atleast disassemble the center console. Let me know what happens.
