Out of Warranty Sunvisor Replacement

What has happened getting your sunvisors replaced for those of you who are out of the 3 year 36k mile B2B warranty?
I have 31k miles and less than a month out of warranty and I was DENIED!
I am going to dig deeper into this and figure out how Honda really has the balls to deny replacing such a clear defect.

Well my understanding (which I believe is correct) is that it is actually up to the district parts and service manager whether to actually goodwill the repair. Therefore it is not actually the up to the dealership.

Hot weather will cause them to split. If you notice when you pull your visor down there is a point of tension during rotation. When the split occurs the visor can't make it past this point of resistance. I have had mine in 3 times - twice for the drivers side and once for the passenger side. I ask the service manager at the dealership I get my car services at how many he has warrantied. He said "hundreds" at his dealership alone. With having 3 warrantied in the first year and a half of ownership I asked that same questions. What about when the car isn't under warranty? He advised I could still get them warrantied at this particular dealership.

You're outside of warranty... They can deny it...

I've had my SI almost 2 years and my visors are perfectly fine.

Oh I completely understand that technically they can deny it. I just don't see how honda could deny it on such a clear defect that they have decided to do nothing about

If you have not had problems with your sunvisors you are in the minority. It might just take some time. It took each set of mine a year and half, but my car is parked outside most of the time in NC
My service advisor also said he has replaced hundreds himself.

mine is parked outside 24/7, no garage.

THere's no TSB/Recall on it so they can deny it.

There is a TSB:

I think the reason mine break is because I use them to hold up my custom fit sunshade sometimes during the summer and thus they are used when it is hot out. Otherwise I don't really use my visors much.

the thing that frustrates me is that my brother just picked up a 2009 civic si last week and they have the exact same visors. Honda has done nothing to fix the problem.

Here are some pictures for those of you not familiar with the issue:

And circled are the broken tabs that are the cause of the problem:

seems like it expands and snaps when it's turned.

poor design.... maybe

poor materials properties... probably.

0 problems here, but I pretty much never use my visors.

A week or two ago BOTH of my visors went out. First the passenger one...and a few days later, the drivers side one. I've already talked to the dealer and they said they would replace them for me...but I am in warranty. I just need to go when I get a chance, but for now i'm pissed cause its a pain in the @ss to drive around with these things in my face. It is definitely a defect in workmanship/materials...but i'm not sure if their is a TSB for it.

Your best bet is to try as many dealerships as possible and see if one will be nice enough to replace them for you. But you need to move fast...the further you are out of warranty, the less likely they will try to help you.

I got a call from Honda on Friday. The DPSM is out of town, but I should hear back at the end of this week with more info.
