Unhappy Hit a hardcore pothole...

Mods please delete, I found a thread with the same problem.. I'll be posting there

The cause for the noise wasn't the pot hole.

Not sure what state you are in, but if it was a pothole you could claim it to the proper department that takes care of your roads. They will usually pay if they find it is a pothole. At lease in CA they do.

Nah this noise has actually been coming before the pothole, since around 500-600 miles around break-in.

It seems to fall under this thread. It's a creaking noise that I can hear OVER my A/C. Which is saying something.

Creaking noise and defective unibody?

So, as the investigator, I will ask you this. may I see your license, I see it says needs corrective lenses, and you just said you didn't have your glasses on.. we're not paying you a cent, it's your fault.

Harsh, yes. But's a fact. Don't post crap like that on a public forum, you have no idea who does what , when and where.

Funny thing is... it doesn't say needs corrective lenses

did you only run over it with one wheel, or both front wheels, or what? is the noise distinctly coming from only one corner/wheel? you may have blown a shock, or possibly the top of the strut assembly where it's bolted to the chassis.

Like Zeuce said, schedule it with your dealer service dept and have a "professional" look at it and see what they say. Find out if it's something that they'll just fix under warranty (does it really hurt to ask?), and if not, find out how much it costs.
If it's a significant amount to fix, find out if your state has some sort of program to pay for such damages...if you can build a case .

Oh, and hey, I'm an internet warrior. Don't post this crap around here in an online forum. This isn't a place to ask questions or have discussions or share experiences and ideas!

BTW, look on your roof around the edge of the moonroof. Check for dents.

how fast were you going? generally you'll get a flat before you bend things, or so I've heard. unless the impact is on the actual lower control arm, which doesn't seem likely. And yes, definitely look into the pothole and getting the city to pay for it.

I have a creaking noise that comes from pulling off my bumper too many times I think. I've done a self-fix on it and it's gone, but I think our cars are kind of prone to funny noises.

if you have buckling at your roof, I believe your tire would definitely be flat, your rim definitely bent and all sorts of sh*t wrong. Probably running around wiht -15 camber too hahah.

Nah nothing wrong with my roof or moonroof, nothing wrong with the rim, tire's still inflated.

The sound seems to be coming from the center of the dash. Could be something loose in the interior?

Again, I'm not entirely sure if the pothole caused it, but if it didn't it's been SIGNIFICANTLY louder/noticeable since then.

probably something insignificant/nonfunctional to the car moving then. Like part of the bumper metal.

Just go have a noteworthy mechanic check your suspension out. You don't wanna run over another pothole and have more possible damage

You'd think so, but no, not necessarily.

You might want to have an alignment check just in case the impact was really bad.

I hate potholes, sometime it's nearly impossible to avoid them.

My alignment is almost perfect :P on the highway I have to have the steering wheel at around 11 o' clockish I honestly don't notice that it's not perfect sometimes

that's been before the pothole tho, it's still the same
