drive by wire. 06+ civics use a different system than the traditional cable system found in most manual transmissions.

To clarify - the throttle pedal uses no mechanical cable, it sends electronic information to your engine, hence, drive by wire.

All Civics have DBW and are affected in some way by the issue. To some, it's not noticable and it's not an issue. To some, it's noticable, but not an issue. To some, it's noticable and it's an issue.

Torredo, sorry to hear that your mission to get Honda to fix it failed you. Bye bye Torredo's Civic. I hope you come back and tell us what awesome piece of machinery you buy to replace your Civic.

unfortunately- dbw is the "way of the future" according to some companies.

My parents both bought brand new toyota products (one Rav 4 and one Corolla) and they both have the rev hang associated with the drive by wire throttle system.

hopefully you get some good cash when you sell the civic

You hate it so much you'd trade in your brand new car for a 10 year old eclipse?

AGGHHHH! This is such BS! Everytime I step on my gas peddle this f'ing thing surges and chokes. My girlfirends bone stock 02 sedan can whip my new one.

Are there any chip manufacturers who should be putting out a performance chip for the R18 anytime soon. Would that not reprogram the emissions and fueling and theoretically give us the performance these cars should have?

Personally I dont really find it that bad at all. The EX is my daily driver, so I drive very gently anyway and I dont find the rev hang that bad when the car is driven normally.

i managed to call Honda Canada myself this morning to have
them pretty much give me the "I dont give a F***" attitude!

I told the bitch on the phone that i shouldnt have to deal
with ANY issues on a BRAND new car for which i dropped 25k (After
taxes) payed in full up front. I got the "the Tech sees no prob"
so therefor its not a prob. I replied with "The U.S has a fix both
the Si & R18's"
I keep getting the same thing over and over how U.S models differ
from us yet the same fu***ng DBW exists on both.

BaH...im just furious with Honda, so i told the ass on the other
phone she aint getting my money or business as long as i live!

like they give a F*** anyhow!

Drive by wire is for the engine not the transmission, there is no cable going to the throttle from the gas pedal instead they put a pedal position possition sensor (potentiometer) and the ECU tells the throttle when to open. the transmission uses a cable linkage instead of mecahnical like used in civics years 1988-2001.

if Honda would have fixed the DBW in the R18's i would have
put a bunch of cash into this car, but seeing as it chokes when
i step on the gas pedal to accelerate wtf is the point to even
try and gain any performance out of this shitbox?
