HELP! K&N SRI plus fan. How and where to connect fan for power?

First, I have the K&N intake for my Si. It has a heatshield that connects to the old stock air tube that is by the fender.

I am not, I repeat not sticking a freakin blower inside of the damn intake, I am sticking it on into the resonator tube to provide cooler air form the fender which connects to the outside.
Second, I want to stick a mount in this heat shield ( not connected to the throttle body at all) so I can put a fan in it. This fan is going to be a small powerful long lasting fan like a good PC one or something. One that will suck air through the tube because air is not really coming through here to keep the SRI cool.

This is a project I will need help and insight on. I will need your guys help figuring out where to connect the fan so it can power itself when i start the car and unpower itself when i shut the car off. If you could also post up some fans, that would be awesome.

The reason why not much cooler air is coming form the air tube is because the K&N is not closed off in a vacuum like box causing it to suck air in from the tube (which restricts it somewhat). Thus the fan will draw in air from the fenderwell and bring in cooler air to the K&N filter and convect a bit of warm air away form the SRI.

EDIT:

A much much simpler solution has been found.

Attaching a blower right inbetween to blow around 125 to 150 CFMs of outside air to the K&N SRI.

This attachment requires a simple house and power connection. Obtaining power is the hard part now.

A small computer fan will not provide enough airflow to justify it.

No it is not carb approved.

HAHA, yeah a know a PC fan won't be strong enough. It was an example of what fits in there. Can you guys help me find some kind of fan that is powerful enough and small?

Industrial tube fans built for high power and durability. High power where there is low pressure, sounds like what i need. Just a bit pricey

dude it might not even be worth the hassle. i mean it is a good sri intake that offers a heatshield. i know its not enough, i have it too. it does get hot but its a sri.

The whole point is to make sure heat doesn't come around there.

With my idea, it should convect heat away for sure out of the heat shield when the car is idling, and it will provide cooler air and it won't have risk of hydrolocking.

Yeah, I just found some industrial fans used in air ducts to push air through tubes for buildings, Tiny fans, bigger fans, tubeaxial ones, but they're like 80 dollars. I will look for way cheaper ones.

I just need to know where to put the wiring... that is last though.

Found some fans that blow at 10,000 RPMS, haha! but they're a bit expensive. I'll have to do some fluid calculations to see what is teh max RPMs before the size of the stock box bottlenecks everything.

some control volumes, control mass law and i'll get back to you guys. Does anyone have dimensions of the stock air box by the fenderwell? This will help me out so much.

I decided to go with a powerful fan from nail salons. You know those small fans women use to dry their nails? They spin pretty damn hard and fast.

Anyone have any idea how I could cut the cord and where to stick it to give it some power? I also need to find one that is no larger than 3 inches.

I'll have to see you make this work slim. It's kinda entertaining.

em, if you want air, isnt it better just to do a custom hood vent near the air intake...

Right now I'm trying to not have to cut anything. I'm just simply sticking a fan on the inside of the tube that was connected to the fenderwell that draws outside air giving the intake cooler air and blow away warm air at the same time.

I hope this does work but finding the tiny fan is the hard part.

well by putting a vent inside it, its going to make it more restrictive then its already is.
maybe its better for you to relocate the secondary intake tube and do a ram air system.

Your engine sucks air in when needed, it does not require a tiny fan that will only effectively restrict airflow by blocking its path. The K&N design is not a bad one, I'd stick with it.

In addition, if there was a small fan powerful enough to feed more air into an engine, superchargers and turbochargers would have never been invented.
