Unhappy Injen CAI Throwing a CEL-Check Engine Light on R18

I am getting more and more frustrated with my Injen CAI. I did everything the instuctions said and as posted by other members here. I've triple checked my install and everything looks good and everything including the clamps being tight. Also, I was very careful with the MAF sensor when doing the install. I connected the battery back let the car idle for 20 minutes, but 300 miles later I get the dreaded orange engine light. Not once but 3 times.
Anyone have any ideas as to what might be the problem?

have Honda reset it for one,
but make sure the connections are all tight at the
harness & hoses. Is the MAS sensor screws in tight?

I reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery for 15-30 seconds. Would having Honda reset it be any diffrent than my method? I know the MAF sensor is very sensitve, should I zip tie the wires to somthing so they don't move around at all? I routed the wires under the intake piping. The screws are tight.

im not sure how exactly you did the wires from/to the MAS
but what i did was removed the entire plastic shroud that covered
them from factory and loomed em up. Then tucked them or zip-strapped
em somewhere secure.

my guess is you have an airleak maybe?
as far as the reset on the sensor....it may be different then
just removing the battery neg term.

I just left the plastic shroud on the wires from/to the MAS and it's kind of just hanging there. I will try zip tieing the wires to somthing so they cant move and see if that helps.

make sure the MAF is seated correctly and also the hose conneted to the throttle body is tight and the pipe is all the way in. you might wanna try to keep the battery disconnected to maybe an hour.

Dumb statement, but best to not overlook it, but you're positive the mass airflow sensor is in the right way?

Have you got the code read? Did you also try retightening your air filter?

I have 21,000 mi. The CAI is causing the CEL.
Im pretty sure the MAS can only go in one way, but I'll check. No I didnt have the code read, because I've heard that having someone like Azone plug into the ECU or whatever they hook up to read the code can void the warranty. Dont know if that true or not, and im avoiding the dealer because I don't want them voiding my warranty either. As for the filter when I was installing it I kept screwing the clamp so tight it would make the filter come off, so I wiped away the oil off of the rubber and didn't tighten it down so tight to make it pop off, but its on there good. I can look down by the battery and see it's still on there. If there was an air leak somewhere would I be able to hear it? It sounds very quiet at idle. Thanks for the replies.

did u get this fixed? I'm lookin into getting a Injen CAI or a Fujita since they're pretty much the same division..heard the engineers weren't happy with Injen and most of em moved over to Fujita

i got a K&N drop in right now

what are your thoughts on the intake since you've had it

reading codes won't void any warranties!

go to advance auto parts or autozone and get it read!

It won't void your warranty to have the code read. The dealer won't even know you had an OBDII reader hooked up to it. The reader just plugs into a port under the steering wheel and just reads the CEL code. When disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery for 15mins+, you are clearing all of those codes.

No, problem is not fixed.
I really like the looks and sound of the CAI , but not worth a CEL. I'm gonna give Injen a call and inform them of the problem and she what they say.

I groaned when I read the topic of this post. As far as I know, this is the first CEL from an Injen. Would love to hear what fixes if any Injen suggests. Good luck with this.

Thanks. Yeah, I groaned too when I saw that stupid light come on. First it was a check fuel cap warning, no biggie I figgured it would go off, then several miles later a CEL. I reset the light once again made a small ajustment to the clamp on the throttle body and let it idle for 20 minutes. I'll report back what i find out.

on some vehicles, not tightening the fuel cap can trip a cel. something about pressure in the gas tank. also, to reset the computer disconnect both battery terminals, and touch them together. this will discharge any capacitors that may be holding enough charge to keep memory. i've also heard you can disconnect your negative terminal, turn your key on and press and hold the brake. otherwise, you will have to leave the neg terminal off for about an hour.

keep in mind that if your radio has a security code, you will need it after you reset your car. i'm not sure if the new civic has this since i don't own one yet.

i asked my brother this morning, and it was someone he worked with. they had a new model accord. make sure you tighten the fuel cap three clicks. i'm guessing the civic might be the same

I doubt it's the fuel cap. The fuel cap message is seen on the odometer display and since the issue has been brought up he has reset the ECU and hopefully has filled up his gas tank.

How is it now Silver8th?

Well, I reset the CEL by removing the neg battery cable again. CEL stayed off for excatly 500 miles. I took the car to Advanced and Autozone and neither of their code checkers could connect to my car for some reason. I even made sure it was plugged all the way in and had them try the test 3 time each, nothing. Guess I'm gonna be forced to take it to the stealership to see what the problem is.

I know the MAS has been talked about, but when I installed my CAI on the Si I could put the MAS 2 different ways. Basically did a 180 degree placement on it. Both fit well and tight, but one seemed to somewhat click into place. In your pic you have the wires facing away from the injen label. Try putting the MAS were the wires are on top of the injen label.
