black smoke on startup

Hello, i did not see it, but my friend told me when i started up the car today there was black smoke coming from my exhaust. Now this cant be a good thing can it? Should i bring it in?

BTW, only 1500 miles

Is it hard to start the car? and when you try, it does it hesitate also once its finally on?
