uhhh...I hope this is covered under warrantee

So I was drying off my car today after washing it and noticed a rather large chunk of paint flaking off... I made an appointment to take it in to the dealership tomorrow but they said they would have to look at it to see if it would be under warrantee. So my question is do I have a chance of getting this under warrantee or will I most likely have to pay to fix this myself?

This has (similarly) occurred to a number of other members, and there seems to be a problem with the flaking paint on the FGs in general. Under most of the other cases the repaint was under warrenty, though I'd suggest hitting up the search feature to see how they delt with the problem.

It looks like something hit it, this stinks but that is not part of your warranty.

I'm 99% sure nothing hit it. Almost all of the paint was still hanging on there when I first saw it and it looked shiny still there were no signs of scratches at all on it but driving has removed some of the flakes...

It really does look like something hit that spot. The plastic underneath looks crinkled and deformed. Paint will not (usually) flex as much as the plastic, which may be why the paint came off there.

the plastic is smooth to the touch. I'm not sure where the lines came from but you cant even feel them.

Thumbs down That Sucks

It's obvious the paint is flaking off the bumper. Any one who does body work will tell you that that is how the plastic looks on a bumper. The flexable plastic is made in a mold where the plastic is injected into. It gives it a marble effect. I feel for you bro. My Si is flaking by the headlights.

Paint peeling off front bumper

My 06 GG Coupe EX had the same problems, the paint was flaking aorund the headlights and signal lights. It wasn't as bad as the one in the picture, but my dealer still repainted the front bumper under warranty, had a repacement car for the 2 days it took as well. Attached is a photos of my car, the problem was a lot smaller but it is warranty work because the paint is failing to bond to the car.

My 06 Silver EX Coupe had the same problem. It happened after 1 week since I have bought my car. The paint was flaking aorund the bumper near right side headlight. They did doubt a lot seriously. They called a private body shop guy to inspect it if it's my fault. Obviously, that was not my fault. The body shop guy also admitted. Thus, my dealer repainted the front bumper under warranty but he seemed not happy.
But, No worry.:) They will do it under warranty. I guess lol

Even if somehting did hit it, and the plastic flexed, a proper paint job should crack like a spider web, which would be less obvious and look better, it should not just flake off like that.

I took it in today and had the manager look at it. He took some pictures and said he needed to have the regional manager look at it or something before they would do anything… so I have to wait until Monday now to get it checked out.

Same problem I have on my ASM EX. Same spot as well. I can tell you in my case I never hit anything and it looks the same. If they won't repair mine, they are going to e very unhappy people for a day or two. It is obviously a defect.
