Protection for the Fogs

I've had my fogs for not even a week and already my left fog light is cracked due to rocks. Is there anyway of protecting the len's from cracking?

Lamin-X

Lamin-x sheets are a version of the material used in Clear-bras. These little sheets of plastic have adhesive on one side, and install over some water you spray on your lamps. The water is for you to center the protection and express the bubbles out to the edges.

They dry over several days to a VERY clear protection without bubbles.

Get the real things for about $15. I think its www.lamin-x.com.

I think there's a short on youtube.com showing an install.

Sorry about the lens.

Well, I just ordered the clear 20mil lens. Thank you for the link. My only concern is that it says that if you leave your fogs running for more than 15 minutes, it will burn in. Does that mean I can't keep my fog lights on for no longer than 15 minutes?

This one's been covered, too. They work fine unless you run aftermarket hotter (higher wattage, not color) bulbs.

You'll discover Lamin-X leaves about a 1/8" margin around the edges of the film, so that a tiny bit of the glass is exposed to shed heat. That's why you get the pre-cut instead of cutting your own, which will probably be TOO good a fit and retain heat. Can't see this unless you're 6" away.

I think there might be a suggestion that you don't run them for more than 15 min without moving.....but then why would you need them stuck in traffic?

Point well taken youn grasshopper!

Never thought about leaving an area to shed heat. I guess 100% of the light area does not have to be protected.

Portland-Seattle-Vancouver

Hey Si_Civic,

Is there any worse set of highway than I-5 to the border, and then 99 to Vancouver?

Between the traffic, rain, border delays, perpetual winter darkness, and then road debris........if you don't wear protection, well, there's a joke in there somewhere.

How about the Canucks new goaltender?

This good ideas ! I love how much slant our front windshield is. I have two rock, one inch in size bounce off my windshield without crack on it today.
