Comptech ss 1-2nd grind issue

So I installed my Comptech ss yesterday and I noticed that when shifting from 1-2nd gear I grind a tad...only when shifting very fast (which I like to so). If I shift a bit slower it's all good. My buddy at work said that he thinks the I'm shifting too fast for the syncros (or something to that effect).

Anyone else have this issue?

BTW I love this ss!

Thats one of the reasons that an SS can be bad for you car. It allows the shifter to be moved faster, but the tranny and syncros are still operating at the same speed and trying to match the quick shifts.

you know what.. i do like short shifter... but i had an issue before with ss, thy make my clutch pedal squeeks all the time.. even i bleed the clutch cylinder and put like heavy grease on the spring and shalfts.... after a while i get the squeeks again.. i did even change the whole clutch pedal assembly.. but the squeeks is just keep coming back...

and whats the porpose of SS if your slowing your trow on the shifter?? short shifter suppose to slow you time shifting...it dont make sense, on the regular one, you can shift fast but the travel is long, and on SS you shift slow but your travel is shorter... what do you guys think??

^^^Well other than shortening the throw the ss also makes the shifter a lot more "notchy" and "confident" which I like, but you have a good point Batang...

Next, get the metal bushings and put those in! I love the way it feels with the short shifter.

just act quicker on the clutch...you are probably clutching at the same speed as before the short shift, but moving the lever faster...

how does changing out or shortening the shift lever affect your clutch pedal? from what you're describing from your clutch problem, a squeaking, popping, etc would be a result of a failing master or slave cylinder... replace, as well as flush your fluids and you should be fine. but the shift lever has no affect on what your clutch does.

also, the problem described in post one of this thread has nothing to do with the SS. it's a common problem on the Si, even stock ones... if you redline and shift too fast on the 1-2, dozens of users report an audible grind. I've learned to slow/time my 1-2 a little better and problem solved.
