Interior Trim Panels Popping Out - Near Seatbelts

Hey,

Just curious, on my 2006 LX sedan (canadian assembled), where the seat belt goes into the side of the inbetween the two doors, there is a panel seam right beneath there, where two interior panels meet, mine keeping popping out every week. I push the lower panel back in, and a week later they pop out again 1/8" to 1/4"?

Anyone else notice this problem? Most people never look at this area but I noticed it the day I brought home my car.

Since I have had a myriad of issues with my LX sedan, I placed a call into Honda Care Line, awaiting a call from regional manager to discuss the many issues my dealership fails to fix or does not know how to fix.

I've fixed this just this past week. You have to pull off the weatherstripping on both sides of the B-pillar. The weatherstripping is a one-piece deal, i.e. if you look on your interior and see all that textured material surrounding the panel, that's also the weatherstripping. Anyway, pull that off about the full length of the lower panel that's popping out. You may notice that some of the clips on the panel are bent in against the panel itself. If they are, gently use your fingers to bend them back into place (just keep them approximately straight with the panel direction, you'll see what I mean when you get there). Afterwards, gently rest the clips/panel against the B-pillar and place the weatherstripping back over the B-pillar metal and the plastic clips on the panel. Make sure each clip is sandwiched between the weatherstripping and the B-pillar or else you're going to eventually have a problem again.

Hope this helps. :)

I just did the fix as per your instructions and I saw what you said. I also bent the two top clips at the top of the panel up to grab the female hole on the panel above to hopefully help as well.

I know will know in less than one day.

Thanks.

The dash panel on the passenger side is popping off and the dealer did not fix that!!! im kinda getting tired of this car, gonna hopefully trade it in for a 07 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT that car has quality. Hey Honda call me back when your quality vastly improves same with Toyota. Honda and Toyota's quality has been lacking for a while. I have already been to my dealer 7-8 times for warranty work...first was SRS airbag passenger side, glove box wasnt flush and was defective, rattles, panels popping, just ugh i could go on and on. I just want to get rid of this car already and soon!

haha...I have a friend with a Legacy GT...same kind of problems with the interior that you'll find in the Civic...and same responses from the dealerships - "can't replicate the noise"...his car is a rattle trap.

I call bs ^ no way would a Legacy have the same problems a Civic would. The Legacy is better built, with better quality materials. It's a much much much better built car then the Civic.

I had a 05 impreza 0bs and it was perfect. No rattles, noises or interior or exterior problems.

Subaru's are know however for very thin easily scratched paint.

Mine got t-boned and was traded for my 06 civic. I do miss it though and I feel it was a better car overall.

I would love a legacy GT!

I have the same problem. The dealer tried to refit the panel but did not work.

I'm getting a subaru also as soon as my lease is over.

You better hurry and get one soon before they start assembly in the US.

Right now they are manufactured and assembled in Japan. That is going to change, thus the quality and fit and finish as well

Had the same problem and pointed it out when I was at the dealer getting the rear deck taped up for rattles. They ordered me a new panel. Quite truthfully I didn't have an issue until I pulled it up to install/wire my fogs. I was very gentle with it though. Guess it's just sensitive.

Call BS all you'd like...his is an 05. But, go get your Legacy and stop bitching so much if thats what you really want anyway.

Found this old thread searching the archives.

Dropped our 2006 DX-G off at the dealer for the 3rd time this morning to fix this (Honda calls it a B-pillar cover) along with a front seat upholstry issue.

First time they had the car they were doing a B service, took a look at it and said they had to order parts.

Second time I think they just clipped it back in place. Popped back out on the way home.

Third time lucky?

I fixed this problem thanks to someone in this post or another who told me how to remove the rubber surrounds, pull the panel out slightly, bend the clips back correctly and reinstall the rubber, worked like a charm.

14k later, no panels popping out.

Nope, didn't fix it this time either. Not as bad as it was, but both are still popped out. Drivers side worse than the passenger side.

Unhappy

Anyone find a solution for this?

Apparently the dealer has no clue on how to fix this. Maybe take it to another dealer?

I guess Hondas are not made like they use to. Ive noticed quality and build going downhill myself. I am a true diehard Honda fan but this most likely be the last Honda I will ever buy.

Well what i did is i removed some trim pieces and put them back in it isn't popping out as much as before and i noticed the SRS covers by the back seat by the rear windows also have some issues,i tried popping that out as well but no good its like the plastic is warped or something...ill have to live with it so even though i have said constant things about the quality of our civics i can say this at least we dont have a vw golf or a cobalt, focus or caliber those are far worse than our civics. My gripes about my civic are minor and not major atleast. I will keep the car and once i get it paid off the mod bug will begin. I know my civic isn't the only one with interior issues all 8th gen civics suffer from the quality of the interior. As i stated before if Honda and Toyota don't get back on their quality than no one will buy them. Im not sure if this will be my last Honda or not only time will tell.

Changed dealers, this one ordered new B-Pillar covers and replaced them under warranty today. I wonder why the original dealer wouldn't do that?
