P0139 Question, already searched.

I got the code p0139 with an AEM intake, buddy club rh and LSD kitty backer. I understand the code means 'slow response'. I searched and found one mention of checking the MAF. My intake was sworn by AEM not to work well with any other year but 06, I have an 08. My dyno proved the intake made power, up to 12 whp and 6 hp over max. I do have 'lumpy' problems wit this intake. Like if its got lets say 3 lines of coolant temp when im jsut heading to work and i go past half throttle any where under 3500 rpm, my face is in the steering wheel with what feels like detonation. With the stock intake its as clear as a whistle, i can mash anywhere with no problems. i had the whole setup on and never had a code till 6k miles or so, then i cleared it and got the same code another 1k later.

So im just wondering if it is the intake.

P0139 refers to the 2nd o2 sensor. Do you have a defouler?

How many miles on the o2? Have you checked to see if your wires are rubbing against anything or if it's shorting out?

More than likely the wires are shorting out. The car is also probably staying in open loop, so my guess is that the heater is bad. The code is saying the 02 sensor is intermittent. It should be the one just prior to the cat. I dont believe we have one after the cat.

haha, yeah you gotta do it right. Sometimes the higher flow of exhaust will foul up the sensor quicker. It very well could be starting to foul up.

No everything went in with stock components. all wiring. I have had the defouler in sicne the header was put on. There are two 02 sensors btw. one for AFR and one for catalyst efficiency. Wehn i look at my scanner what sohuld i benn in open or closed loop.

Have you considered a different defouler? I think I read somewhere on here that the code *could* mean that the sensor is not getting enough of a reading from the exhaust flow, therefore the low reading nature of the code. I got the same code, as well as the "stuck rich" code (can't remember the code number), and plan to try a new, shorter angled defouler before I drop the cash on a new sensor.

Funny thing is, I can tell just before I'm going to get the cel... droning in 3-4k range gets louder and mushy sounding. It happens periodically, and eventually goes away after a few days. good luck.

The sound is because the computer cannot decide how much fuel it needs to inject and I would imagine it is rich as hell. check your plugs
