I have little to no experience on this... But I'd probably clear them just to be sure. I also think it depends on the nature of the paint. I'm no so sure enamel needs to be cleared.
I'm thinking about doing this, white calipers, on my TW FG2... |

I painted mine a few months ago and i went ahead and put clear coat. a can of it is not that expensive and why not add that extra protection but i would think it shouldnt matter depending on how good of a job u did
