Squealing noise in drive/reverse

Car: 06EX Automatic
I got into my car this morning (9:30AM-ish) to go to work, and when I went to put the car in drive, it started making this awful squealing noise (like someone saying 'eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee' in a high pitch-but not too high). It happened as soon as I shifted over reverse and into drive. I put the car back into park, it stopped.

I did this a few times, and then drove the mile down the street I needed to go in order to drop something off. It stopped went for a minute or two, then stopped.

Now, it's been raining here since last night, and is going to continue to rain all day.

On Thursday, I have the recall done for the rerouting the drive belt (?) and had them upgrade the firmware on the computer, due to the transmission hanging up. I was wondering if water just got in there and it was slipping, or what. I park on the street, so the car is constantly exposed.

Any thoughts on this? I feel like I'm making a post every other month due to problems with this car. I've got to go back by Honda at some point this week to pickup a part. When I had my car in for the recall, they broke the little clip on the front of the car, which holds the hood rod down. I think everytime I go in, they break something.

It was coming from the front. It stopped after I got going a little bit, and hasn't happened again today.

I wish that was the case. I've heard that noise before, this was like something spinning, maybe something slipping, I'm not sure.

If it wasn't down pouring yesterday, I would had gotten out and at least looked under the hood, but it was pretty nasty out.

The noise sounded like it came from the front of the car, like directly in front of me inside the hood.

I'll probably just write it off as just another problem with this car. Seems like every time I go to get one thing fixed, something else breaks. After 50+ hours sitting in dealerships and on the phone with HOA, I really just don't want to waste anymore time..

may it needs an overall check. but i don't think it's the timing belt.

I thought it was a chain (or chain/belt hybrid), at least thats what I got from reading about the EX.

It hasn't made the noise since, and the car has been on and off several times since then (to/from work, school, food, etc). It doesn't make a lot of sense, as it never did it before.

Next time it does it, I will look into it more, as I didn't even check if it did it in neutral. I kinda freaked out and went back to park, as my fear is the car falling apart while I'm driving (alright, so that won't happen - but with all the noises it makes, it might as well).

Only things I haven't done are change ATF (52k almost now) - planning to do that when I do my next oil change (due in the next 1-2 weeks), and I need a new battery (failed the battery test). That's got to wait though, as I've got a sick chameleon that needs to go to the vet.. and that runs around $150-$200, if not more..

seems a lot of work to do in your car, good luck!
btw, i'm sure it won't fall apart when you're driving.

I've only got 2 things I need to do - hopefully this weekend. I've got no idea on ATF, as I've never done it before. I'll make the fiance figure it out.

I'd go with "a lot of problems with your car"
-3rd brake light out - cable in rear pillar was broken
-3rd brake light out - cannot figure out what is wrong
-3rd brake light out - was never built correctly and they refuse to honor that (fixed myself by melting plastic down to push down the metal plate for contact)
-Rear bearing went out
-Transmission hangs, and shifts ridiculously hard
-Squealing noise now
-Numerous times I've had rocks stuck between the drivers side backplate and router. Thankfully they work their way out now.

...I could probably continue, guess that explains why I have given up hope.

I hope it doesn't fall apart while driving, but I do admit, that is one of my worries. The likelyhood is slim, but whatever is slim usually happens to me.

Right now I'm glad my parents paid for the extended warranty. It's kicked in several times and more than paid for itself.

Thanks - I'm hoping it doesn't come back, but at least if it does, I'll try to check more things. I've got the fiance and the father that are willing to lend a hand when I need things.

I'm looking forward to the fall/winter, as I am planning to trade this in for either an 09 Si (if I'm not pissed at Honda by then), or something else, as I want a manual.
