2006 Hybrid: Whistle at high speed

Just bought a 2006 hybrid and when I get it over 60 MPH, it whistles. Something in front of me but I have no way of diagnosing it. have others experienced this too? I searched but did not find anything on this.

has the windshield ever been replaced? I have had poorly installed windshields that were not sealed properly that "whistled" when on the highway.

Why would the brakes make noise when i'm not braking? Is that common?

The location seems more like it's from the engine compartment as the sound appears to be more at my feet then on par with the windshield. I could be wrong, however, as sounds can be funny that way.

When brakes get low they have "scrapers" on them that squeak and screech to let you know the pads are low and need replaced. You do not need to be braking to hear this.

IMO though if you actually hear squeaking I would think that its not the brakes. More so Honda got cheap and decided to replace the hamsters under the hood with mice. ...Cheap bastards always looking to cut costs somewhere.

Haha, gotcha. That sound, unfortunately, i'm familiar with. This is not that sound.

I was listening to the car this morning (last night was a torrential downpour, couldn't hear a thing) and I think it has a sound even at low speeds that I didn't really think twice about. Perhaps I have a belt that's getting ready to be replaced as the sound is rotational in nature and gets higher pitched as my speed increases. It becomes very noticeable on the highway.

When the pads are installed correctly, they wear indicators will not squeak with no applied brake pressure, plus that would not explain why they only squeak at 60mph and up. If it is somewhat quiet, it is your hybrid motor completely taking over. Its cruise and therefore does not need the power from the gas engine.

Thanx AV, It's definitely coming from the front of the car. I'm now wondering if it's just the squeal of a 90hp engine that i'm not accustomed to.
