Is the dealer price good for maintenance

The dealer wants 210 dollars to rotate tires, change air filters and check brakes and fluids does that sound like a good price?....any ideas on anything cheaper?....Should i just get the air filters online replace them myself and go to a service shop to rotate tires.....have Bpit 15,000 miles on my honda civic sedan 06

$210 is obserd.

for regular oil changes they are ok as its once in a blue moon that you will need them but rotating the tires and inspecting shit for $200+ is insane.

i don't foresee myself getting any dealer related service done until ~30k miles
when the first big preventative maintenance hits.

until then, i'll do my own oil, tire rotations, and check all fluids and brakes
once a year.

WOW!! That's even USD $'s (ok wait our dollar is 90c to your $)

But still, that is rape. Do you HAVE to take it to Honda? Can't even a warranty-approved place do this?! For HELLA cheaper?

We have a Mr Lube in Western Canada and they're warranty approved and MUCH cheaper. I also get a full inspection, free washer fluid (lol) and a coffee.

No the dealer rips you off hardcore. I just got an oil change for 7 bucks for an oil change, and a whopping 34.95 for LABOR!! WTF. I wont go back to the dealer ever again, for any service unless its for warranty work.

What are you getting done during your "inspection?"

Are they just changing oil, rotating tires and checking fluids? Because $200 to do that is OBSCRUD.

no outside service station performing a minor service will void your warranty. even if they do a major service(30k,60K). You just need to make sure that all of the majors that the honda dealer will do in those services are covered( tranny flush, coolant flush, whatever they do at those services). if you have a 30k done at an outside shop and lets say honda does a tranny flush. and this outside place doesnt, at 45k your tranny goes.. i can pretty much gaurantee your not covered. unless they are stupid or very nice. just make sure the majors are covered and you have ALL your receipts. if your a DIY'er for oil changes and stuff you should really purchase the oil, filter from them and keep the receipt. even take pictures if you need. any documentation that the maintanence was done is always good to have.

and yes i work in a service department. i feel bad when stuff like that happens because i see DIY'ers keep no records and then the dealers looks at the history and goes ah, negative. we arent covering anything until we have documentation, or receipts. engines are not cheap and esp with labor. your looking at alot of cash. all im saying is you can have the work done anywhere just dont be stupid and not keep track of your records. you may need them as proof one day.
