For those of you who previously had weird loud low rubbling sound @ 1400RPM

Original post here:
06 Civic EX Sedan-Engine Noise at 1400 RPMs

My 06 Civic EX ( auto, Made In Canada) is having exactly same problem as

above : engine or muffler start making low loud rubbling sound when rpm

reaches between 1400-1600. I gotta give more gas to get rid of the noise. I

took the car to my dealer for more then twice. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to

show the problem during the test drive. but the Honda technician told me

that was probably exhaust back pressure?! My dad has another explaination

that it might be exhause pip leaking. Could anyone explain to me? what

should i do next?

Sorry for my bad english >.<

Have a nice day, Honda lovers ^^

Just a bump, and a chance to quote myself...

***************
Got 2 2006 civic's. The wifes sedan made this noise from the beginning. She has the LX and I just thought the reason I could hear hers and not mine was there was more sound deadening material on the EX.

Now My EX coupe is doing it too. It began at around the 4,000 mile mark. To me it sounds like an exhaust piping issue. Not raspy enough to be a leak but definately a low trumpeting sound in the exhaust.

My two cents. And I will be passing this data on to HOA, if the case worker would ever call me back.

Prediction... Honda of America will disavow any knowledge of this common occurance just like the rattles and wind noise I am currently fighting with them over.

What can you do... Chalk it up to 1st year model woe's or GO TOYOTA????

I think just call Honda Customer Relations. If the techs cannot replicate the problem, then bring a vid camera the next time it does this :)

I have this sound, although it seems to be at 1800-1900 rpm. The dealer says it is a "design characteristic". I reported it to Honda but they said there is no known issue...

QUOTE]

oh boy, i love this forum so much.

I went to the shop this afternoon for this problem, plus the clunk noise from the front right corner for the car.
Luckly! They seemed like they knew about the clunk noise problem well.
After 5 mins test driving, they ordered a new engine mount for my car.
I also told the tech guy about the engine making noise at low RPM.
For mine, it always makes the noise below 1500 RPM at any speed.
I didn't get the answer for this problem. But the tech guy promised that he would take a loook at it on monday. so if they find any solution, i'lll post it up here. probablly i'll scan my invoice and post it up here. so u guys can take it to ur dealer shop or soemthing.

Gooood Luck! to everyone!

yes!!!!!

they fixed my rubbing sound from the engine when i drove at 1000~1500 RPM.

i do not know what they have done to my car becuase they never told me or wrote it on the invoice.

i went there to get my engine mount replaced but the same time, i told them about the rubbing noise or whatever it is from the engine when i drive below 1500 RPM.

and somehow they fixed it. now my civic drives smooth like silk. i can't even feel the gear changing. it's got more power somehow.

if anyone is from Toronto, go to Markham Honda. they have great services there!

holy crap are you serious? That sounds good, actually kind of sounds like a reflash. If possible, can you call and ask them what they did??? thanks!

Talking

the funny thing is they told me that they did NOT find the problem when they testdrove it. and even when they did the Honda Digno System or whatever it is called. But i can 200% sure feel the imporvement in my car. Probablly, it's refrash but they didn't want to tell me, maybe because everyone would ask for a reflash.

This is recent TSB from Honda. Perhaps this is the cause.

hmmm, I thought it was just a normal characteristic of our cars. I was thinking it was something with the exhaust, but it's actually the belt.

At least we have an answer!

woot for tjs on the find!

The belt kit for this TSB is on order for my car. Bring the TSB down with you to the dealership and show them you vin number falls within range.

They don't know how to produce the noise like us drivers do.

Since it's a quick repair, most dealers will order the belt kit.

I just had the S/B 06-059 done this week. Did they only replace the belt? The paperwork says "belt kit".

FYI - I thought this was an exhaust rattle...
