Talking Minor problems

Heres a short 7K mile review on my civic Si with a few minor detailed problems.

1st problem) Cold weather!! Here in michigan on 50 degree nights it takes the car about 15 minutes to heat up past 4 bars. After 4-5 bars the car drives fine, but before that the car jerks like crazy and drives really funny. I'm not really concerned about this right now as it is not that much of a problem. However when winter comes and it's 20 degrees i'm a little afraid that this car may take 20-30 mins to warm up!

2nd problem) Throttle jerking. Does anyone have the same problem as I do? If I take my foot off the gas my car lunges back and forth. I cant seem to fix this problem, no matter how I drive.

A minor problem. Some times when I brake fairly hard, the brake feels really weird! The brake shakes and rattles. It's hard to explain. For example it feels like im driving over rocks. Is this normal?

I just wanted to let people know the problems I am having with the car to see if anyone else is having similar defects?

I still love my Si though!

Thanks guys!!

your 1st problem: it doesnt get that cold here in cali but i usually just warm my car up to the first bar and it drives fairly well and after a couple minutes of driving, the temperature gauge is at halfway so try just warming it up to the 2nd or 3rd bar and then try it out.

your 2nd problem: this happens time to time for me but i figured out that you have to slowly push back on the accelerator to not get the jerkings.

your 3rd problem: thats just the ABS working, dont worry about it. i had that same problem but its not really a problem. the ABS just goes on and off, atleast thats what i was told by the mechanic at my dealer. its basically the equivalence of pumping the brakes.

hope this clears up some of your worries and enjoy your Si

It seems as though the 'jerkiness' has been much improved with the reflash to RBA050.

1. Cold weather does usually make warming up cars take longer. I'd assume that's even moreso for a Civic. imtim's right though, my car drives well enough after 2-3 bars are on the guage.

2. DBW strikes again. Yay.

3. ABS. They seem to be pretty sensitive. I've engaged it a few times just coming off an onramp and wanting to stop a little bit sooner than a "normal" driver would. I don't know if that is what makes up the slightly long brake distances on the Si.

1.) 3 bars is the charm for mine
2.) I'm not sure if DBW is a blessing or a curse. I'm leaning more towards curse as it seems to be a MASSIVE annoiance.
3.) Embarassing when next to a car load of kids in a Neon SXT with chrome wheels and they're all eyeballing your car and it does the dreaded ABS bounce.

I will have to admit though, downshifing with the DBW lag is almost a non-event. It's almost literally just moving the clutch in and the gear lever down a gear. That in itself makes it a SORT-OF plus. Then again, it just sucks for 'round town. Lots of herky-jerky, and lots of looking like a bloody fool.

Does the ABS get that sensitive on yours too, atruhondagrl? What about others?

The ABS will do that on hard braking...it's designed that way...And yes, I have hit the brakes...and the ABS reacts just the way you described....If your getting the 'jutter', 'wobbly' effect on braking normally...you most likely have warped rotors.

haha. I agree!

I'll def. look into the reflash. Does anyone have service bullitens? I don't know where to find that.

Thanks for all the comments.
