Quick fix for hard-to-close doors/boot (pics)
Hi all,
came across a quick solution to a problem i've been having with my 06 civic so i thought i'd share it. essentially, ever since i had the car the driver's door required a lot of force to close, honda tried to fix it at 1000km but didn't succeed. found the problem last night, there's a black screw-type rubber stopper near the door latch, you just simply turn it clockwise so it goes in a bit more and it'll let your door close more easily. there are i think 2 of these for each door, and similar (but taller) ones for the boot. ![]() the above pic shows the stopper fully in (top left), one revolution out (bottom left) and completely out (right). just screw/unscrew it with your fingers, don't try to pull it out perpendicularly by force :) |

i assume they're there to stop the door seals from taking the full impact of the force of closing the doors. which is fine, unless they do too good a job in the first place and stop you from closing the doors normally altogether!
this is more of an fyi. if ur doors are hard to close, try tightening the rubber stoppers a bit, that's all. |

Thank you Chylld. Good info to know. So the Honda near you couldn't figure out this problem either, eh? So service department incompetance isn't just an american anomoly. :)
To any American's that don't understand what Chylld means by saying boot: Boot means trunk and bonnet is hood.
