NAV "Auto Lighting" feature Not Working

Anyone else have trouble with the "Auto" feature on the NAV not working properly? It was working, when my headlights are on the NAV gets duller and vice versa when they are off. But the other day it was raining and I had my lights on so I changed the NAV to DAY and then back to AUTO at night, but now the NAV is ALWAYS bright and I have to change it to NIGHT when it gets dark out.

Anyone know why or have experienced this problem before?

I had this problem until I added my foglights. I think the autodim relies on some kind of initial power draw (turning on the headlights.) I guess adding the extra draw of the fogs fixed this issue. So If the dealer can't fix it hop on ebay, spend about $100, install them, and your problem is solved!

Turn your instrument panel lighting down from max. Just turn it down below the first click of full bright. The navi displays day mode when the dash lighting is on full bright.

That could possibly work also. I was givin the same advise before I installed the fogs and it rarely made the situation any better. Like I said earlier I think it works off of a power spike so sometimes when I rolled the window down, changed a hvac control, or let the car rev low (man trans) it would change to the night mode.

I had the same problem a few months ago. To fix it I just disconnected the battery for a minute and reconnected it. That fixed the problem and now it works perfectly!

I'm picking up my HRP 06 Si w/ NAV on Monday. I have no idea how and what it does. Is there any downloads anywhere to explain it's operation??? Also, how does disconnecting the battery for a minute correct a problem with the NAV

i did some work on my car the other day and when the navi rebooted
NOTHING was functioning, voice was erroring, car location was skipping and moving me while not in motion and NO audio could be heard.

Disconnection of the batt and another reboot fixed it

so powering it off will mess with it.....possibly

I noticed the same problem last night and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. I'll run out during lunch to try turning down the brightness and see if that does it.

all you have to do is hold the + button until it beeps. this is full bright mode, then hold the - button until it beeps. when you do this the nav will go between day and night mode when you turn your headlights on and off. make sure to do all of this while your headlights are on.
