So this past Sunday my cd player stopped playing my CDs for some reason. I tried putting in my cd in the cd player and it would not take the cd. It would try to suck it in but then would give up and spit the cd back out. So today I finally got a chance to take it to the dealership to have it fixed and I got a jackass trying to tell me that playing burned cds will damage the cd player. I was like wtf? How could it be an mp3 compatable cd player stock and yet not compatable with cd-rs?? He tried to take me for an idiot but realized I wasn't going to take that for an answer and said he will have a tech look at it and see what the problem is. I didn't understand why a tech would open the cd player and try to fix it and not just order me a brand new one. I said ok and he told me that it would take about an hour to an hour and a half to fix and that he will come get me in the waiting room when its done. After about ten minutes he comes back and tells me that he is just going to order a new one free of cost and it should arrive in about a week.
Anyone else have this sort of problem with the stock cd player? |

Any other service centres you can go to? One guy tried to dodge the bullet with me and told me Honda doesn't recommend burnt CDs. I told him, no buddy, you are dead wrong. Came there in person, showed the owner's manual and it said you shouldn't play anything with adhesive covers as it may over heat the drive and cause it to malfunction. Asked him, it's an MP3 player, do you see any MP3 CDs being sold in HMV? I may sound like a jackass, but I wasn't going to let the guy brush me off! I work for a tech service, so I easily get carried away. Tech admitted his dumb comment and replaced the player.
Try a retail CD and see what happens.

Mine wasn't skipping, it just wasn't taking in the cd and playing properly. And yes like I said I tried the original cds, some burnt cds (3 different brands memorex, imation, and hp), and some mp3 cds (maxell) and it didnt take them. So if it didn't play the originals it had to be the cd player.

The only problem I had is sometimes when I would get into my Si and turn on the deck it starts at the begining of the CD. Not where I stopped listening to it, but did that randomly and alot. So I had my dealer replace the deck, but still does it. Not as often tho.
Good luck with your problem, hope it gets worked out. |

In my EX I had a problem with the CD player where CDs would pause, restart, pause, and then restart. It was strange since it only happened when the CD player got hot. I was scared that the dealer wouldn't believe me so one time when it started happening I drove immediately to the dealership to show them and they took a quick look and decided to order a new player. Odd indeed.
