I Think I'm Screwed, Electical Problem.

I just installed my radio and everything was going fine. Well, I was having a problem with the memory not holding so I began to fix it. Then suddenly none of my radio stuff works. The car is also unable to use the lock button to lock all the doors and my keyfob is also not working. My tachometer is also screwed up, when i turn off the car it will shoot up to 1 and half and stay there until i turn the car back down and then it will shoot back down to 0. I'm hoping this is just a fuse problem but I'm really scared of the price. I pretty much know they problaby will not warrent it because of it being my fault but I do work at the dealership as a porter and they said they would get one of the hourly guys to look at it so I may just get hit with parts. Do you guys think I'm screwed possibly with like a 500$ bill or do you think this could be just a few fuses that need to be replaced and for just parts I'll get out for under 20$? IM SO SCARED. I'm supposed to bring it in tomorrow morning while I work for them to look at it.

i think parts are the least of you problems. Diagnosing electrical problems gets very expensive. I mean it could be a fluke and be easy to diagnose but with an expensive part but i doubt it. Unless its something they have encountered before I would be willing to bet you will be paying at least 3-5 hours worth of labor if not more. Good luck and let us know what happens.

well, as i said i work at the dealership and maybe they can figure something out and warrent it. Hopefully, I can't afford anything for myself right now let alone my car.

If you work at the dealer they can do whatever they want. The problem is getting a tech to look at it for free. Warranty doesn't pay technicains must time. See if you can get your warranty administrator to pay the tech straight time. If you can get them to do that everyone will be happy and you will get out of there for free.

Well, they said they would get a tech to look at it that was hourly so that may help me. My boss and service managor is a good guy and one of the other service riders told me that it problaby will not be warrented. Do you think this is just a matter of fuses though? If I have to ill set out in the car and turn every bell and whistle on and figure it out.

I doubt a fuse would cause the problems you are describing but anything is possible.

Okay, heres the new thing. Everything seems to work fine except the tachometer is staying up, the radio has no power what so ever, my power locks do not work with the keys not in accessory position (also with the door open the lock button does not work), and my key fob is not doing anything to the car. I'm hoping fuse cause nothing else seems to be a problem except for those. I checked all my lights and and everything seems fine. HMM, I guess I'll know tomorrow.

sounds like a blown fuse
btw, i think it might be normal that you can't lock doors with door open.

No, the fuse did fix the radio but now I may be in deeper shit. We checked almos all the fuses and nothing fixed the locks. We came to realise that now when I open the door with no keys in the ignition the car lights do not turn on even though the switch is set to that. Also, with the keys in my chime does not go off saying my door is opened. The light still appears that the door is open but no chime. My locks will not lock with the power lock button if the key is in the ignition, the unlock does. With the keys out of the ignition my keyfob will not unlock or lock my doors. Neither the unlock or lock will work on the power locks. We screwed with today at any chance we had and are figuring its either the bcm (OMG I'm so screwed) or something called the multi control levator I believe. Multicontrol I was told shouldn't be to bad but if its the bcm im fuckling dead in the water. If anyone thinks it could be something else let me know. I got a tech to hook it up to the computer saturday morning before work so i'll know then. Thanks alot.

perhaps a resistor on one of the motherboards got blown because it sounds more like the chip than the fuses with the rpm's at idle sticking to 1500. This happened to my buick before...the car goes into brain-dead mode. None of the extras on the car work, though it will run. Perhaps try un-installing the stereo...maybe there is something really wrong with it.

You said the lights don't work, try running the A/C and see if it kicks in...that'll tell you a little more I'm sure.

No, the rpm is fixed after fixing the fuses. I'm in trouble I think.

Were pretty sure its the multicontrol. We are going to look at it tomorrow. Do you guys think its the whole thing or maybe just some wires that are blown.

It ended up being the multicontrol. The tech i had look at it said not to worry about and not to ask him any questions about what he did cause he warrented it somehow.
