lazer is out of line (aka going defective) or your disc is scratched or your disc has errors in it (aka cheap disc or cheap writer).

Tried different media? Burn at the lowest speed? Happen on retail disc? Both CD and MP3?

Retail cds skip alot less.I 'll try burning in the lowest speed with different cds.Could too many folders on a mp3 cd have something to do with it?

It technically could, but in this situation... it may not matter. If it's skipping on retail CDs as well as burnt CDs, then bring it in because it sounds like your CD player is fubar.

I was hoping to avoid bringing it in beacause i dont want those savages ripping apart my dash. Its so quiet right know I might get some rattles if all the clips don't go back in properly.

It's entirely up to you, but it doesn't sound like you have much of a choice. You'll either have to cope with the skipping or risk the other alternatives.

I get the same exact same thing with mp3 CDs. I completely fill up the CDs though, like 690 mb, so i'm wondering if it's something to do with that. I'm thinking the player is somehow running out of memory, hence the skipping.

i solved the problem by burning good quality cds at the slowest speed with error correction.

They have to rip apart my dash soon to find this annoying rattle-spring-type sound behind the CD player. My MP3's skip once in a while. I'm going to try to burn at a lower speed next time, see if that erradicates the problem. :)
