Question 06 SI Rotor 'hat' rust

Do any of you 06 SI owners have rust on your rotor hats (i.e. the hub portion of the rotor)? My front right looks like crap....I'm thinking about taking it back to the dealer....I noticed it starting to rust after about 3000 mi....The other 3 seem to be fine however.

Seriously..you can burn the rust off by braking. If you took it to the dealership, and they saw the rust on the brakes they would probably laugh at you, since you can burn the rust off by braking.

if you are really that concered about it i would say either get them powdercoated or painted with high temp paint. Since it is normal wear and tear the dealer isn't going to do anything for you. Good luck

I don't think that is the part he is talking about. He's talking about the part that is not near the pads, but rather attaches to the hub.

The rust on in that section is not related to miles but time. It starts rusting the instant it comes off the factory line, or technically before then.

get 'em powdercoated, and it'll at least hide the rust.

guys..guys...I'm not talking about the rotor braking surface...I'm talking about the hub portion where the lugs are  ......I'm probably just going to get some Duplicolor high heat spray paint and take care of it myself...I was just curious if anyone else had the problem...

Like I said, normal wear and tear; it happens over time. If you really want to take care of it, just have it powdercoated.

Sounds good...thanks for the suggestion.....might do the powder coat on all of them....I have the HFP rims and you can see the rust much more than with the stock rims.

It's actually NOT normal and I know exactly what he's talking about. A few people have already had them replaced by factory warranty. Within a few weeks of ownership the black paint on my hubs started chipping and rusting - it should be far more durable. I'll hit the dealer eventually to see if they will just give me new rotors under warranty (I'll install them - never had a good experience w/ Honda service).

This is only for front rotors - my rear hubs still look fine.

dealers generally don't give parts away under warranty for customers to install. Also it has happened on every car I have owned. It is just cosmetic and can be easily fixed with a five dollar can of spray paint.

There was black paint on there? All I've ever noticed was the rust. It doesn't bother me though since rustiness is normal on the buggers. Hm. News to me.

haha, i notice it on the rotor ( i know this is not the topice) after everytime i wash my car.....then i take it around the neighborhood and it is all gone. I take my wheels off every 3rd wash, once every month and try to clean them completely, it is just a shitty thing.....never gets clean..

Post pics of the painted version if you do not mind
