Question Viabration while releasing clutch.

I'm teaching my girlfriend to drive stick and I was teaching her to slowly release the clutch in first gear with out giving it gas so the car can start going on its own. Anyways is it normal for the engine to shake a little when you release the clutch halfway? I've notice it before, but not like today. Its like the car wants to stall, but the engine just shakes and moves slowly. Is this normal on M/T cars? Thanks in advance.

I think it's just that the engine is trying not to stall so it shakes. seems pretty normal to me

wen your car is shaking while your releasing the clutch it means its about to stall, but hasn't stalled yet, happens to me sometimes too, all i do is either give it a bit of gas or release the clutch a bit more slowly

give more gas or push in the clutch. When it shakes like that it means the engine is nearly stalling (You will see the RPMS dropping very low)

You're teaching her to slip the **** out of the clutch to start going without pressing the gas pedal?

why?

maybe just to find the friction point, but not consistantly.

Anyways OP. It vibrates because these engines are not balanced at such a low rpm they're balanced at idle and higher.

If it drops to a low rpm it's going to shake pretty violently.

also because the pistons firing is moving so slow you can't really balance it because there is no counteracting force (balance shaft)

lol when i read this the first thing that came to mind was the car is trying to stay alive. which is what it is doing. if you continue to release the clutch and the engine doesnt adj. itself then it will die. if you dont gas it... which if you notice of you slowly let go of the clutch the throttle goes up by itself.. the car is adjusting the throttle to compensate to the loss of power

good ol DBW... it blips the rpms up too. I taught my GF to drive just by letting the clutch out slow and the car roll by itself with no gas. After she did this in 4 hours she was driving without stalling. Crappy shifts but no stalling. She now has a stick shift car.
