Oil Meter
Hello, I have an LX civic. My question concerns the oil meter. It drops at 10% intervals vs individual percentage points. Basically its gone from 100% to 90% to 80% (2300 kms at the moment). Is this normal for the meter. I originally expected it to drop at smaller points. ie. 97, 96, 95, etc... Does anyone have any ideas. Thanks

the oil life is just an "estimate" depending on how you rev and drive your car it will go down linearly. |

The engine can't tell what sort of oil you're putting in your car. It probably uses a bunch of methods to calculate the oil life for the MM, such as RPMs, Odometer, and time spent driving; but it doesn't take into account oil types, really no way for the car to know what type of oil you put in.
