For those grinding 2nd...

I finally found out the problem with my shit... @ first I thought it was the tranny going, but then I was like naw, it only grinds @ high rpm shifts... So then I remembered that the clutch pedal is adjustable.. I guess honda's default setting doesnt disengage the clutch all the way, so it wears out the clutch and soon you'll be grinding 2nd during those high rpm shift...So I just adjusted the nut and brought the engagement a bit higher... NO MORE GRINDING FOR ME!!! Ill try to post pics later on..

Is it only the clutch pedal? I'd like to somehow bring the gas pedal a bit higher, so I don't have to contort so twistedly to heel-toe.

Uh, no, this is not the solution. It can't be, the engagement point is way away from the ground. Coincidence.

I bet if you keep trying you'll still grind.

Add me to that list as well. Alternatly if you can lower the brake thatd work for me as well.

I've been dealing with manual transmitions for a while, so I am 100% sure this resolved my problem... If your engagement wasn't near the floor as mine was, then you should'nt have a problem... So unless you could prove otherwise, which I'm 100% positive you can't, don't come in here and say this is not the solution...

The clutch is hydraulic, and is self adjusting. if you raised the pedal your just moving the point at which it dissingadges. If the pedal was 6" from the floor, and now its 4" from the floor. You just moved the point at which it dissingadges. While speed shifting you would not have to push the pedal as far as you would have before. there for you now engage the clutch all the way were you werent before.
hopefully this doesnt mean that the clutch is wearing prematurly. There has been a couple of post with clutches going bad already. Lets hope not. I did not spend the extra money on an si to get a cheap clutch.

actually the pedal still travels the same distance... What changes is how much the rod will be pushed in... But yea, the idea is the same and that is what you are changing... I wouldn't say my clutch is wearing prematurely, I have 11kmiles and atleast 75% of those have been full out racing... I already had to replace the brake pads... so I actually think its held on its own quite well...

so it brings the pedal closer to YOU causing more travel to push the pedal?

cuz if you get it closer to the firewall...isn't that same as resting your feet on the pedal?

no... the pedal stays the same, what changes is when the clutch disengages... or the engagement point... Atleast mine was all the way in(lowest engagement point possible) so the clutch was still engaged a bit even though the clutch pedal was pressed all the way down..

If you push the pedal the same now as you did before. Your getting more engagment.(after adjustment) Im just saying that it sounds suspecioucs. That means you had to push the pedal farther, to do the same job. With all the post Ive seen the last couple of days about second gear grind, And not shifting properly. I hope some more poeple try this fix. If alot of people find that this helps, there might be alot of clutches being replaced in the future. Im not saying im 100% right. but its something to keep an eye on.

This might be the thread I've been looking for forever... Cuz I swear that it always feels like my clutch never fully disengages and gets popped out when im shifting from 1-2 or 2-3 (more so on the 1-2 shift).... lately i've already been sketching out cuz my clutch has been making weird noises... maybe it's due to wear because the clutch pedal never fully disengages? It sounds like a squealing almost like dusty or worn brakes when im trying to start first gear.....anyway i'm gonna be taking into to honda to see wtf is up. Thanks for the insight.
