its the ABS. If after you hit the bump, your brakes stop working, get your car lemoned. This occured on my 03 WRX.

I've had the same thing to me on a few occasions, and when I mentioned it to the dealer he didn't know what to think of it. I thought it was related to the clunking sound coming from the front suspension.

ABS doesn't "push" up on the pedal so you don't brake so hard...what you feel is a quick electronically controlled pulsation of the brakes. It's meant to prevent your wheels from locking up when it feels hard braking or any condition different from normal braking where locking up/skidding can occur. It's supposed to be able to actually shorten your braking distance and allow you to maintain steering control.

The system on our cars does seem to be a bit more sensative...but I would definately say it's not stupid...it will most likely save your ass one time or another.

yea, i hit a small pothole today and abs kicked on, making me slide more than if it just never turned on. i had to let off the brake pedal, and then start braking again..
