Navigation voice recognition issue

Quite often, I have to punch (literally) my dome light area to stop my navigation from saying "Please repeat." Has anyone else had this issue/how can I take that apart to see if there's a bad connection or something?

For example, I'll hit the button, say "What time is it?" It'll say Please repeat
I bang the light area on the roof (2006 ex 5speed w/nav) push button, say again, and voila it works. After banging that spot, everything works fine.

make sure all your doors and windows are closed when you speak. on my si, it asks me to repeat if im going 65 + with the windows down. also, dont speak too loud. im sure many ppl do something wrong with this. louder does not mean clearer. my car can understand me if i speak fairly low conversation voice. tell meif it helps.

I found that it depends on your acent too. The navi understands me fine, but it can't understand if it is my wife speaking to it

My navi doesnt seem to accept voice commands 70% of the time now. I tried to speak louder and clearer, but it's always the same reply..."could you please repeat?" I took it in when it wasnt working and the service guy gave it a try with no success. They kept my car overnight and when I returned the next day, he said that they couldnt reproduce the problem! He assured me that components that fail to work from time to time will eventuallly die and that's when I should take it back. Anyways, it drives me mad to not have voice navi because most of the useful commands are voiced activated. I'm going to give it another try and have them look at it when it acts up again...

i've had the same problem oherc. it's a really annoying random intermittent problem. when it keeps saying "please repeat", i've stopped my car, closed all my windows, turned off the radio, and it still has the problem. it seems to me that it only seems to do it in my car when it's really hot outside...

My always works unless I have someone in the car and then I say hey watch this I can talk to my Si, then I look like an idiot lol.

I just keep my windows up, turn down the air, and speak clear and it works fine most times.

same issue here just got back from offshore and my car had been closed up in the sun for a month and it wouldn't recognize any command i gave then after i slapped the mic in between the map lights it started working again. Its in the shop as im typing this i'll post exactly what they found in a few hours. However they still seem completely stumped by the clunk noise coming from the front right side

OK...

I am nothing new to navigation. The problem I have is the same as the previous poster. I don't yell. I can pull up to a complete stop, turn off a/c close all windows, and speak clearly, and it'll say "please repeat" after a very long delay. I can say it 10 times, and it'll not understand. I wack the light, speak it as clear as before, and holy $hi^ it works. It'll continue to work for the rest of the time it's on. I have no accent, or lisp

It's relieving to know that this issue isn’t case specific. From the posted replies, it seems that we're having the exact same problem and it's finally beginning to come to surface. I will be taking my car back to the dealership soon for the second time. BTW, it won't recognize my voice even if the car is parked and off with all the windows rolled up. I know it's not the way I sound because when it DOES work, I can say “menu” softly with great ease.

First, take it to the dealer...Warranty...I love my nav and it almost always understands me, even with the windows down. Do you have an accent?
