Rear bumpers slightly different color on SI?

Has anyone else noticed that when the sun hits the paint on your SI, the rear bumper looks like it has a slightly different color that the rest of the car...I'm guessing because the rear bumper is plastic while the sides are metal...I dunno, I can see it in pictures of other peoples rides on the site too...anyone else agree or am I just crazy?

I knotcied in these pics of the fiji. Im guessing because these pics were taking mid to late 05 and those were either prototypes or something. http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/civic_si.asp

It's because of the plastic bumpers. The color won't 100% match.

Well both my front and rear bumpers had been repainted at the factory and I think they match perfectly....I'm just pissed that they were repainted!

Plastic does seem to look diferent in color on a lot of cars though.

My rear bumper is totally off colored than the rest of the body and I got a Honda Rep to confirm a repainted on the rear bumper. It looks like no one bothered to clearcoat that piece!

He compared it to the front one which, unfortunately got damaged by an idiot, got repainted and looks perfect compared to the metal pieces. It's my thoughts that the factory painting process just isn't great compared to a body shop's work on those plastic pieces.

It's because they use different base / primers on plastics because most bumpers are flexible.

I dont' have a SI, but I got the same problems with my EX. After a couple months I finally got sick of it, so it's at the body shop now. From what I've seen either you got a good one or a shitty one. I'm the latter.

It makes sense, but there is a certain point where it shouldn't be as bad as it is. I have noticed that it's fine on many older Hondas, but many of the new ones are terrible. Here is a close up of mine and you can see a massive difference.

yup yup, have the same problem. Hopefully, they'll look better after they're done repainting it, which should be next week.

I dont think they will do much. The basturds @ my dealership scratched my car while doing an oil change and then tried to deny it was their fault. I had to make a scene in the middle of the service bay to get anything done.

Search my thread " I may have to shoot someone" you will understand what im went through!!! Freaggin basturds!!!!

There's an easy way to avoid this. Have the service advisor walk around the whole car to inspect it before having his crew perform any work. Once he writes the car is clean, you're good to go.

Well, I have sent letters to Corporate in Japan, and I have gotten responses. Mind you these were nice letters, so me being a little annoyed may get some response. I still need to decide on a course of action. If people can start posting pics to illustrate the difference that would be helpful.

Mines feels smooth, it's just the damn color that's off.

The rear stands out more than the front, but the front is also off.
