Can you push down on your car and make your rear suspension creak?

Jack up your car, put it on jackstands, take a wheel off, and jack up the rear assembly, trying your best to replicate the creak. At least to see where it's coming from.

If it's a pivoting suspension part, take the bolts out and try putting some marine-grade(waterproof)wheel bearing grease on those moving parts.

Mine creaked horribly after I installed my Skunk2 camber arms, now it's as quiet as a brand new car should be. The OEM pieces had no grease, so I installed my camber arms w/o grease as well...(mistake)

it's good to know i'm not alone with this problem. my right rear suspension on my SI sounds terrible over certain bumps. i can't replicate it for some reason, but its been so loud that i heard it noticably over my stereo that was at volume 20. i've only had the car for 1800km but i've scheduled an appointment for tomorrow.

right rear shock/ alignment

I have a similar problem with mines also I have the 06 si with 30k miles on it, I first noticed my rear tires were severly worn in the inside of the tires and so I took it to the dealer and they told me nothing was damaged on the car, just that my car needed an alignment,so once they did that for some resaon they couldnt get the car back to factory specs. after I told them that my car right side looks uneven from the rest and so I raised some hell cause they wasnt gonna tell me, they was just gonna send me on my way with a out of spec vehicle, so I asked to see the mechanics ase certification and they tried to act like he was a certified mechanic, they brought me some shit that had his training but no ase certification, so I raised even more hell cause they are providing ase certified quality work and thus, that aint true, so they put my car back on the alignment rack and about 4 mechanics finally got it right but they also said my suspension was sagging on the right side for some reason, and im pretty sure almost definite its out of alignment again, this is a ongoing problem with this car!! dealers act like they cant fix shit but there is a serious problem with these suspensions, im taking it back up there,I know they are tired of seeing me and having to deal with me.... spoken from a mechanic, when they found out I knew my shit, attitudes started changing in my favor!! please respond if your rear tires or wheels look out of alignment...

also I havent heard any noise yet but its does feel like it squats a little to much when going over speedbumps, if your tires in the back of the car looks to be leaning then yes we are more then likely experiencing a failing suspension , the dealer wont tell you non of that, just mention the lemon law and they will soon find a solution to ur problem!! im mad as hell about this one, but I just hate being shitted on by cruddy dealerships, please make sure u get documentation on every problem you have had with your car, I tell them that I feel unsafe driving that car and that they need to get it back to factory specs before I drive it off the lot, and if they cant its time to lemon law it out!!

I heard a really strange noise when I accidently hit a very small pothole a few weeks ago, sounded like someone took a hammer and slammed it into something in the right rear wheelwell. Saw someone walking along on the side of the road, when it made that noise they ducked and put their hands over their head. Reflexes I guess.

Anyway, I went out today with my music OFF, which I never do. I couldn't believe it, nearly every time I went over even the slightest bump or dip I could hear a spring/resonance type noise - wasn't very loud, but I could definetely hear it. My volvo never made any noises like that, and it had 90k miles on it! On the more violent bumps and potholes, it made the noise I heard a few weeks ago.

Then I also noticed something I hadn't heard before. My handbrake creaks like a 90 year old woman walking down a flight of stairs. Maybe that's normal, I don't know, my pos volvo never did it. If I park on anything other than a perfectly level, paved road - as soon as I put the handbrake on and do anything (reach over to the volume knob, for example) it starts creaking. Crazy part, it will only do it if the front wheels are higher than the rear wheels when I park. Even if it's only by an inch or two, it will still creak.

'06 lx coupe, 10,500 miles.

My first post here. Took my 06 Civic to first minor service at 11,700 miles. The dealer said that he has to replace both my rear struts. So many people are experiencing this. This is wrong and Honda should do something about it.

1bad06si:

Yes I agree there is a serious suspension problem with some of these cars. I had 3 alignments by 600 miles. I finally traded it in after they replaced all four tires (less than 1K miles) and couldn't adjust the rear camber which is set from the factory but was almost off by a half degree. They said this was OK?

I started off with both toes off, front camber, rear camber and caster off, so I should consider myself lucky (but I DON'T - no car especially new should have these problems) as problems were fixed after three trips to dealer except the rear camber which is non ajustable.

I wondered if people would have problems due to this (my car also had a VERY noticable wheel gap side to side in the rear) after putting some miles on the tires. Last year there were numerous posters on threads that had rear camber discrepancies like mine and it couldn't be adjusted either.

Sorry to hear of your problems, but you are not alone .

I don't have any noise, but I do notice that the wheel gap on the driver's side is about 1 finger less than on the passenger side (both front and back).

I've been thinking about taking it back to Honda and letting them look at it. I just have a feeling that they will say it is "within factory tolerances".

I'm not getting any funny tire wear or pulling when driving, it just sits a little lower on that side?

I posted many posts when I first got my car about different gaps between the tires and fenders. Many pointed out to sagging springs.

I have not done anything about it as I do not have wear problems on my tires, etc.
