another thing is that the GTech has been shown many times to be VERY far from accurate.... But like the person above me said, lose the passengers in a car with a little power as ours even one or 2 average sized passengers can make a decent difference

yes but the other passenger was 150 which at most would amount to roughly .15 of a second. And I suppose with the poop 1st gear launch. 15.0s would not be out the question, or high 14s like others have. but how much better can only guess until I do it again I suppose

that formula you used is complete crap. Sorry but the difference of adding 370lbs to our car and that much to something as heavy as a mustang is WAY different. the lower your torque the more extra weight will affect you.
In the mtns its WAY different having just one passenger. Braking, accelerating and turn speeds. When you drive with 130lbs of torque, weight can be your friend or your enemy. Lose some and you'll become happy, gain some and you'll cry. This car is a low 20k car, and is NA. Oh, and you did buy it so stop your complaining for not understanding what you were getting into. Sounds like you should have picked up an ms3 or some domestic. ( i wish i had the $ for the ms3, love them to death ^^ ) |

also, you probably gain more in MPG than you pay in cost. to get the same power out of regular i bet you would loose about 10% on mileage. where as you probably pay 5-6% for premium. Last edited by e60.deluxe; 11-21-2008 at 04:15 AM. |

There is not one single post that I put on this thread stating that I was a superior driver, nor did I ever complain about the car itself. Why am I getting hated on for stuff that was never even said. I posted Data thats it. and people are like you shouldnt have bought this car etc... wtf are yall talking about. jesus just looking for a reason to bitch at people over the internet. wow seriously what a joke. I never blamed honda for this. I just figured it would be faster than that but apparently not. I do feel that this car is way slower than it should be. BTW it is not a drag car by any means. I have alot of fun in my little civic and this is my second one. also how is my formula complete crap. I know that an increase in torque tends to negate the effects of weight in a vehicle. All I wanted out of this post was to see if people had better ideas on launch techniques, and what others had run with a gtech. AYO DOG get off my nuts
and also WEIGHT IS ALWAYS THE ENEMY you can never benefit from having more weight in a car. FACT. also a 15.4 is what motor trend ran so apparently I am as terrible of a driver as they are Last edited by ex5coupe; 11-21-2008 at 12:51 PM. Reason: extra |

Ex5coupe - Jeebus man, it's because your original post was full of foolishness.
First off - A G-tech is about as inaccurate a measurement as you can get for acceleration statistics. It's a step above someone in the car using a stopwatch...i guess. 370 pounds is typically considered about .3-.4 seconds slower in the quarter mile. The usual "rule of thumb" is drop 100 pounds and you'll lose .1 second in the quarter. This becomes more effective as you lose more and more weight. So you were running around 15.0-15.1 in the quarter, if you believe in the G-tech and remove the extra weight. (WTF is the point of doing runs with 2 other people in your car anyway?) You bought a car that requires premium and then complained that your car ran a 15.4 second quarter mile and requires premium, while having 2 people in your car. That's just ditzy. Why don't you go hook up a trailer to your car and then complain about it's quarter mile time as you "just figured it would be faster than that but apparently not." And yes, this car is slower than it should be....in 2008 terms. Back in 2001, when this engine/transmission made it's debut, it was quick. It's now over 7 years later. Joe |

two people were in the car. driver and passenger. was trying to make a joke about the premium. I have used a gtech then went to the track and ran the same exact time. different car but just saying.
Mod close this thread its stupid, just like some of the people who posted. Last edited by ex5coupe; 11-21-2008 at 04:46 PM. |
