A-Pillar Rattle

I have read all the "A-Pillar Rattle" threads. Did anyone ever get this fixed?

I am thinking of removing the plastic cover, but I'm worried about the airbag. Has anyone removed the interior trim piece?

Checkout collegehillshonda.com and they have directions on how to take if off. The directions are for the day/night mirror.

Thanks! I'd rather do it myself than the dealer butcher the trim.

Well, in the first place there's no airbag in there. I found that out when I installed my auto-dimming mirror. It's actually up near the "oh, shit" handle over the window. Secondly, if you disconnect the negative terminal on the battery, the SRS system is made inactive. That is, unless you are full of static electricity and discharge right when you touch an yellow SRS plug.

I took it into the dealer and they "fixed" it. It still squeaks a little bit but its barely noticeable now and much better than before. I really don't want to take it back in because chances are, if they fix it, they will mess something else up. I am only going to take it back if it gets louder and bothers me. Also, there is a clip under there that holds that plastic piece on, make sure not to break that clip or you will have to get a new one and mount it in there.

Hey damb,

LOL I understood what you meant. I meant...thanks for the instructions. I want to fix it myself and not take it to the dealer. :)

I did fix it btw. The a-pillar panel just needed to be reattached.

Rattle Gone

I had a rattle there too. A new clip from the dealer fixed that. And got my sun visor replaced. Apparently, the sun visors are the best for 90+ weather; the clips begin to weaken/loosen.

for no rattles!

I finally found the real cause of the A pillar rattle. It's the black molding that runs along the side of the windshield (outside the car). It snaps in, so I ran my hand down the length of it while pressing down. You could hear it snap in.

Once I did this, the A pillar rattle inside was gone completely. No foam no nothing inside the car.

How did I figure this out? Every time I washed my windshield the rattle went away....The trim was being lubricated/dampened by the washer fluid.

Very strange! :)

I am going in to Lucas Honda on Tuesday to have them replace my Driverside "A" Pillar because it is rattling also. I would rather have fixed it myself, its under warrenty so why bother.

Wow, that is strange. Your rattle was pretty quiet right? Mine is not all that loud, but definatley there.

I'm going to check out my trim too. So at the end of the day you didnt have to remove the interiour a-pillar trim I guess? Thanks for posting your solution!

I read this like yesterday or the day before and just remembered today when I was standing by my car. I pushed that molding part on the driver's side and it clicked like it snapped in. I did that to the whole outside part of the A pillar and guess what? RATTLES GONE!!!

I had taken this into the dealership to get it fixed and they reduced it but didnt get rid of it. This has gotten rid of it for now. Its been there so long, I cant believe its gone. A lot of times, I like to just shut off the music and listen to the engine and the rattle was annoying.

Thanks chriskurn!!

Mie is going in to get the A pillar cover replaced also. But I dont think its coming from there though. Sounds like where the windshield meets the dash. I cant manually make it rattle at all. When its cold out it rattles over any lil bump!!! Aggravating. Lets see wheat happens after the dealership changes the cover.

I seem to have an A-pillar rattle that comes in at about 70 MPH on up while I'm in clear air on the Interstate. If I get behind an SUV or trailer, it goes away but as soon as get out of the draft, it comes back in. Thought it was the mirror but I'm convinced now that it's the driver's side windshield trim rattling.

Anybody else having this issue?

Yeah i have it too on the SI, but mine is a sort of CHIME when i go over the bumps and its cold. And it seems to come from window/glass. Sounds like it, very annoying. sounds like a bee around the ear.

i have a rattle in the vicinity of the front passenger A-pillar also. I found that it is actually coming from grill in the corner of the dash covering the tweeter. If the corner is pressed down the rattle stops. I need to figure out how to get some sound deadening foam or something under there to keep it from rattling or buzzing.

UNBELIEVABLE!! Awsome you guys - thanks!! I just read the fix being the outside channel on the drivers side and went out and pushed that molding down - it clicked into place in 3 places!! Rattle gone! That rattle was really annoying and it got worse in the really cold weather.
