Reflash GONE BAD

Well I took the Si in to get the reflash to Burns Honda here in Jersey and lets just say I did not work out to good . There was a guy there who just go the reflash with no problem from this board that just got his done right before me (GG with leather) They hooked the HDS up to mine and at about 50% done it came up with an error. They then ran I diagnostic of my ECU but could not get the HDS to talk to the ECU. It kept coming up with "comminications error". They was no way to get the two to talk. So I made an appointment to get the ECU comm port fixed and left. About 4 miles down the road the throttle cut to only 2k on me and the CEL came on then it backfired and died. I pulled over and took a look but could not find aything. After restarting the car it would idle at 2000 RPM and would not go over 12 MPH and ran like sh*t. I porceded to call back to honda to tell them it was comming back in. I reset the computer hopeing to get atleast 4 miles before it would come back. This did nothing the car still idled at 2000 rpm and would only do 12 MPH. I sweet talked it a little and rubbed its nipples and it got me back to the dealer at 12 MPH running like cr@p. I handed the keys back to them and again they tried to hook up the HDS with no connection and could do nothing.

So I had an error with the ECU that would not talk to the HDS but drove fine when I whent in, and a car that was total cr@p when I left. They now have it and are going to try a new ECU. I think some of the program got in the ECU and then just dumped. This totaly messed up my ECU.

What do you all think the chances of engine damage are?

shit man, no wonder why when i called today to get my ecu reflashed, they were really defensive and told me that if your car doesn't have any problems, we can't do the reflash. I'm like wtf? it's an upgrade.

I doubt any engine damage occured. Hell, it was running below 2k RPM and 12 mph. :)

Sounds like a Blackberry. Sometimes the Blackberry will look and operate fine and when you upgrade the software on it, the Desktop Manager will report a "error with Radio hardware." After that the Blackberry will not boot up, shows a "507 Error" and subsequent flashes all fail with the same radio error. Device has to be replaced. I guess your service department will be replacing the ECU. After that everything should be fine.

None. The ECU has what's known as "limp mode" when there is corruption in the code. This allows you to either get it off the road to a safe place & have it towed (which is what you should have done) or "limp" back to the dealer.

Kind of like Windows safe mode. Allows you to run in a limited capacity in order to diagnose what the problem might be. I'm guessing that when the reflash was interrupted, either some of the code that was installed is not compatiable with what was already there or part of the code was erased. They should replace both the ECU and the OBDII port just to be on the safe side if the HDS cannot connect to the ECU. Hopefully, replacing the OBDII port does not involve replacing the harness as well..

Good luck on this one, bud. Personally, I'd be so far up the Service Manager's ass he'd think he was giving birth. At the very least, they'd be putting me in their nicest loaner until they resolved the problem. An S2000 comes to mind...

I can't believe it failed the reflash and they let you drive off like that. Very unprofessional IMO. They messed up your car, ask for a loaner...

According to Honda, to replace the OBD port DOES require the COMPLETE replacement of the harness.

I wonder why it would've thrown that error though. Especially since the car before you received the same reflash. Did you make sure to check your VIN to see if you were one of the affected cars?

That's total bullshit. I would take that POS back & tell them, "I was driving a 2006 when I came in here and you damn well better put me back in one. I'll be more than happy to take one of your program cars since you broke mine." Start with the Service Manager and if you don't get any satisfaction, go to the General Manager, if not the owner. Don't be a total jerk but let them know that you are not going to be pushed around and suffer due to their incompetence. If they still try to jerk you off, tell them your next phone call will be to the local TV station(s) and print media, the BBB and then a lawyer. TV stations love this kind of stuff.

Don't let them blow you off---they ****** this up and it's their responsibility to fix it and do right by you in the meantime. First rule of sales & service--"The customer is always right." Second rule ---"See Rule #1."

I'd be glad he got the loaner...Service do not usually have loaners.

I dunno if it's like the same but reflashing phones, people messed it up WHILE it was in process, and that crashed the computer inside so the phone won't turn on or anything. SOMETHING must've have interrupted the reflash and crashed the computer...thats my bet

I love the car after the reflash...runs like BUTTER :)

Hmmmm. The dealer here has a fleet of '06 Accords they use as loaners and the Acura dealer has RSX's.

lol the accords aren't selling as well, i think mainly because...
#1 the civic are much better than before, refined, roomy, etc
#2 gas is expensive, and the tradeoff is minimal

same for my area, the dealers are lowering prices on all/most of the accords, they just aren't selling as well as the civics

Ok the ECU was replaced today and did not help. Still runs like cr@p and the ECU will not communicate with the HDS or any other device hooked up to the data port.
