UPDATE

I'm a little disappointed with Honda service on this one.

Since they did not remember that we all have the new "next Gen" immobilizer system in our cars that most others don’t have yet. They could not figure out how to program keys. Which they would not be able to do on any car with out a working OBD port.

In our cars you can’t just reprogram a keys like before, you have to remove and replace the immobilizer command module to get it to work (this will make engine swaps allot harder. We can’t just get keys reprogrammed to the new ecu like you would in a k20a2 swap in an ep3.

They are now told from Honda Tech that the new immobilizer is connected to the OBD data port. This will not allow anybody to connect to the computer that does not have the key (prevents stealing and then hacking ecu for key codes). The old immobilizer needed to be replaced when the ECU was replaced. The immobilizer, keys, and ecu all have to be on the same sheet of music to run. They did not do this. Now the new immobilizer will be in on Tuesday and they have all the keys. They can now see if this will allow them to communicate with the ECU and check everything. If this does not work they will still need to do the whole left wiring harness replace.

I get rid of the rental that smelled like bad sex, I now have and 06 Accord with 300 miles on it. So if anybody wants to come over and see if and accord can off road let me know.

Got the Car back today.

It turns out that If you have the ECU replaced, re-flashed you will/may have a non-working Immobilizer if the Vin falls in the range of bad Tach modules. Dont ask me why the tach has anything to do with the immobilizer, It just turn out that there s a bad circut in some tachs that will go wrong with the reflash.

Since mine had the bad Tach module that would not work with the immobilizer and a new ECU they had the replace the Tach module to get the ecu and immobilizer to work.

This EXACTLY what the paperwork said when I picked it up.

UPDATE THE ECU SOFTWARE FOR SERVICE BULLETIN #06-052 IDLE CONTROL
************************************************** *******
FAILED SOFTWARE UPDATE. CANNOT COMMUNICATE WITH ECU. VEHICLE WILL NOT GO OVER 12 MPH
************************************************** *******
WHILE MANAGER WAS UPDATEING THE ECU. THE TESETR LOST COMMUNICATIONS WITH THE ECU. THIS DAMAGED THE ECU. AFTER REPLACING THE ECU THERE STILL WAS NO COMM. TESTED THE ALDL CONNECTOR AND ECU WIRING. ALL WAS OK. PRIOR TO REPLACING THE ECU I TALKED, WITH LARRY AT TECH LINE #1901632, HE AGREED TO REPLACING THE ECU. UPDATED THE HDS TABLET AND NOW WAS ABLE TO COMM. AT THIS POINT THE ECU WAS FINE BUT NO IMMOBI COMM WITH ECU. FOUND BULLITIN #06-008 STATING THAT THE GAUGE CONTROL MODULE (TE/TACHOMETER) ASSY. THE SOFTWARE CONNOT SUPPORT IMMOBI/ECU UPDATES. REPLACED THE GAUGE ASSY. RESET ALL ECU'S. UPDATED THE ECU ANDIMMOBI. ALL TESTED OK.

so the moral of the story is, make sure your car does not fall in the VIN range needed bulliten 06-008

My vin ends in 02361

Do you know the VIN range listed in bulletin 06-008?

Mine is 05327 and the first attempt at a reflash failed but didn't do anything bad or otherwise to my car - it still starts and drives normally. I'm waiting (somewhat impatiently) for the dealership to update their HDS tablet before they take another whack at it.

I'm at burns honda now! This story scares me a little. I think I'll be taken care of because I used to work here & my dad used to be the Service Manager here. They have always been good to me. I'll find out how the reflash went soon & report back.

Reflash went fine. Done in 30 min. I noticed the rev hang has been reduced & I can drive normally. I'll have to wait untill the engine is cold to see if there is any improvement there.

I agree! If the reflash didn't take than the ECU is corupted and will not send the proper signals to the iginition and injectors etc... It's like if you upgrade your Computer Bios and it crashes or for some reason doesn't complete.
Most of the time you your SOL and need a new motherboard.
They screwed up and didn't even acknowledge it and worse, they let you
drive off with an unsafe vehicle.

Very unprofessional. I would look for another dealer. If something would have happened you could have sued them big time.

update on my Si

I thought everything was fixed. I was running great for a while.

Well today I was driving down the road about 2 miles from my home when it just went nuts. The top gauge cluster with the speed and temp went blank. The lower panal Tach went out, CEL came on, brake light came on, Elec steering light came on, all airbag light came on, H20 temp, Batt light, and a couple others I dont remember. I should just say about 75% of them came on. Then all the lights went out except the CEL and everything came back. This happened about 5 times till I could get it in the shop.

Honda plugged in the HDS and it read something about some kind of gauge cluster module. Not the whole thing but some sort of bus that lets the ECM, Immobilizer, and everything else talk to the cluser. They think it has something to do with my origanal problum and is just now showing up.

I will let you know whats up. So far My FG2 is a real piece of sh!t. I have never had these kind of elec problums in a car in my life.

There is a good thing though. I have no rattles!
